Directed by Hannah De Vries, she did BEAT UP CHANEL$ (Slayyyter) and Speakerphone & Hot Wet Delirious by Rebecca Black.
What the title says. Y'all would rather believe the speculation, imagination and rumors surrounding these girls than what comes from their OWN mouths.
Time and time again they have said SIS was "cute" but NOT them. I just think it's weird how as strangers people think they know what the girls like. SIS was meant to be as clean and safe as possible because ANYONE could be in the group, just because their first EP had that clean boring sound doesn't mean it was always the plan to stay that way.
Yoonchae goes on weverse to talk about how much she loves the video/song just for people to continue with the #FREEYOONCHAE bullshit because they refuse to see her as the young woman she is and would rather baby her/tokenize her to tear down KATSEYE. Yes she is young and yes she is in a new country figuring herself out, but she is also living independently in Los Angeles with her own Tesla on HER own money. You are not her mother.
You want to believe all the noise about them being miserable and hating all of their music because YOU do, when you could literally just disengage from them as a group and actually support the many girl groups out there who fit your personal taste. Just because they came from Dream Academy doesn't make this build-a-girlgroup. As of right now they are versatile as hell and can sell any concept put on them, THAT is their selling point. If you want to see young women as covered up as possible only making cute safe music then find a different group.
She changed her profile picture too 👀
Given that it seems like people can't get enough of heavily 70's - 90's (and occasionally early 2000's) inspired pop from current artists, when do you think that pop artists will be heavily drawing inspiration from the late 2000's and early 2010's?
I know it's kind depressing to assume that the future of music will just be a rehashing of old genres past the point of inspiration into cosplay, but I as someone whose childhood/music taste is immensely defined by this era, I honestly cannot wait. I miss the radio being non-stop upbeat electro-pop songs. The songs along with many of their music videos made me so excited to grow up and go crazy in the club, but by the time I was in high school the sound of popular music became very slow and the lyrics sad. At least some of songs back then with sad lyrics had fun beats we could still dance to!
Although, I will say some PC music/hyper pop artists recently have done amazing job of capturing the essence of this era and pushing it to the extreme of their own genre.
Although KATSEYE has been getting a lot of heat due to the ongoing Manon hiatus situation and their "questionable" recent music releases, the success the group has had, AND the increased attention that two of the eliminated trainees who competed to be in the group have received, shouldn't be ignored.
ADÉLA, who came in last in the competition, has had the most successful solo career of her fellow contestants so far since her debut the Fall of 2024. Her recent release "KGB" was first met with some apprehension, but once the full song and video dropped the reception quickly switched up for the most part, coincided with the positive reaction to her current opening of Demi Lovato's "It's Not That Deep" Arena Tour. On top of this, she has already received praise from stars such as SZA, Tinashe, Zara, and Addison this early in her career, and had her music featured in successful HBO MAX Series "I Love La", created by Rachel Sennott who adores her.
Aside from ADÉLA, I'm sure many of you gays have had "right back, right back, right back ayeeeee" in your heads for the past 2 weeks. KARLEE GIRL (or just Karlee) has been going viral for a video clip of her dancing in the music video for her song called "Right Back". While as someone who saw the craze emerge in real time, I can say for sure that the initial reception to the song in that small corner of stan twitter was negative and that most of the positive reactions to the original tweet were ironic, the song has clearly caught on with many and has gone viral a bit even outside of twitter. Last week Doechii posted a Tiktok to the song, and just yesterday KATSEYE did as well, with this being the first time the group officially acknowledged a song made by a former trainee! Yes, her rise does give the most "twitter vibes" of the two, but the streams have also been organically rising from 80k too 200k+ daily streams in just 4 days!
I know this is just two examples so far, but I believe anyone who watched the show knows how talented many of the other contestants were. I also believe that at least two of the KATSEYE girls will have pretty solid solo careers, but of course only time will tell.
y'all, please cut it out. maybe "the average" is hyperbole but come on, the amount of skin Yoonchae shows is the same amount as girls I saw showing while going out when I was her age, and I still do. I honestly feel that this infantilization is only because she is Korean. girls her age doing the stuff she does is nothing new, and yes while there is a lot of exploitation in the industry, I really don't see how the way Yoonchae dressing is an example of that. I feel like a lot of y'all don't live in the real world, and honestly some exuding a lot of puritan energy.
