[Other] ‘The Rockin Rollercoaster Effect’

Rockin’ Rollercoaster was the first launch coaster to make me feel like I was falling during the launch. I thought I was crazy because I checked with my sister after riding. “The launch didn’t feel like a big drop to you?” “Nope,” my sis said. About a decade passed and I noticed more and more coasters popping up that give me the same sensation: Pipeline at SeaWorld Orlando, Hiccups’s Wing Gliders at Epic Universe, and Cosmic Rewind at Epcot. It’s possible I don’t ride coasters as often as I used to and I’m just more sensitive. But I’ve grown to prefer this “phenomenon” over actual drops, because it intensifies the falling sensation so much for me. Maximizes the thrill. Can any park employees or engineers weigh in on what’s going on? I might just be loony lol.

In my opinion, Larson’s performance in Room (2015) greatly outshines her performance as Captain Marvel. If you’re not impressed by Larson’s acting, you’re entitled to that opinion. However, if you haven’t seen Room, I recommend viewing it before evaluating her skill. It’s the emotion conveyed in her eyes. She embodies a realistic, traumatized gaze I have seen in people with PTSD. As someone who makes art myself, it appears Larson was emotionally invested in the plot of the film itself, which only magnified the quality of her work. I’m referring to viewers who have not yet seen Room. Those who have already seen Room will find this point obvious.
