Customer greeter confronting shoplifters

Does anyone else’s managers just ignore the whole safety training, and try and pressure you to catch out thieves. We’ve covered it in online training and even in refresher training with managers that we can’t accuse customers. BUT despite this our managers will tell us when someone is leaving the store with unpaid items and tell us to ask them.

It baffles me because the managers will stand 10 meters back hiding and watch whilst we have to deal with the situation. They then give us the side eye when we aren’t able to get the stock back. On one occasion the store manager was so rude and I started crying on the doors it was embarrassing. It’s like a) if anything happens we aren’t protected and b) how am I a 5’4 girl going to get a T-shirt (hidden in a backpack) off of a 6 foot guy. A couple of the department managers pulled me aside and quietly told me “don’t worry there’s literally nothing you could’ve done to get the shirt”.

It’s not even worth reporting to HR anyways because our store is one of the busiest in the state and is really connected to head office. Our store manager has been with Kmart for 40 years and we always get awards for preventing theft 😭 I spoke to one of my friends and they said “yeah you’re not supposed to but I think the loss from theft reduces her bonus so she just blames it on us everytime it happens”.

Appealing fail grade uni

Hi guys! Has anyone ever successfully appealed their fail grade for a subject at Uni? I’m loosing hope. I’ve done this subject 4 times with the first 3 times being before my diagnosis. The first time I received a 45 (5 marks off a 50), The next two semesters I didn’t think I’d pass because I didn’t feel I had enough preparation for the exam, so I withdrew twice. This last semester/most recent attempt I recieved a 35 and failed again. On this instance I missed an in person quiz worth 25% of my grade. I have done okay on this assessment on my other attempts at this subject 🫩. I registered with the unis disability service at the start of the year and apparently they had high demand so the earliest booking I could get with them was end of April to receive adjustments for assessments. The end of April was 3 weeks off the end of the semester. I was sick of constantly having to apply for special consideration for assessments I had done it about 4 times. Then I also had to get a medical certificates for two days. Needless to say I was in and out of the doctor’s office to provide the uni with their never ending demand of evidence. Before this quiz I was unwell, and then I hadn’t prepared enough so I skipped it thinking I would compensate on other assessments. I was too embarrassed to go to the doctors again for special consideration (and with hindsight I should’ve just fucking gone to the doctors or even done the quiz in another class and copped a late penalty). The education inclusion plan I eventually received has adjustments and allows me to use the education inclusion plan itself to reschedule quizzes and exams……………………..if you miss them……..Anyways I had to get a 85 on the exam which was almost near impossible, nobody really passes the exam they do well on assignments and the quiz (we were allowed 2 pages of notes for the quiz). I surprisingly passed the exam after studying my ass off for 3 days, but obviously I didn’t get the 85% I needed to average a 50 pass. This will make delay my course. I spoke to my uni student advocacy and they said to apply for a grade review because I recieved my education inclusion plan late and that I might be able to resit the quiz. Looking at the uni Facebook group it looks like they’re pretty callous when it comes to the appeals and they’ve even dismissed it in the case of students family passing away. In my opinion I stand no chance and don’t want to waste my time, but I could be wrong? It seems with this specific subject I’m cursed and there’s endless obstacle after obstacle. Firstly not having a diagnosis which could’ve supported me earlier and then secondly not being informed of the processes sooner that could’ve helped me. And it also makes me so sad that I actually did well on the exam but now that score is irrelevant. Every other uni either splits this subject into two subjects across two semesters (semester 1 pathology, semester 2 physiology and pharmacology) OR they integrate this subjects content into other units to make it more applicable. Ours does it as one subject in one big semester with an exam at the end. I don’t think I’ll ever pass it tbh.

Alexandra pregnancy theory?

I don’t know if anyone’s said this before but does anyone think Alex might be insecure / have body image problems about her pregnancy body??? She can’t hide away from the cameras all the time and she knows that but I think she automatically covers her belly when she sees a camera head on. In real life at the garage, on holidays, at home or events with friends etc it probably isn’t as big of a concern to her (she knows there’s nothing she can do and it’s probably better for her peace of mind to ignore it), BUT when she notices the photographers or anticipates it I think she gets in her head and semiconsciously covers herself. I don’t know if she thinks people would judge her or if she just doesn’t like the way she looks…….I wouldn’t be surprised if this pregnancy was unplanned and the next one will be a surrogate. I also wonder can we call Alex an influencer? She does the bare minimum as an influencer…just a rhode product every now and then.

Showering at night

This is a less serious post/ more light hearted and funny. But does anyone else’s African parents ABSOLUTELY despise that they shower at night when having school/work? I always used to get lectured about it but they gave up lol. I now do a little 2 min rinse in the morning and wash my face, and armpits, because they convinced me it was disgusting not to. But other than that I’m a night shower person unless going out with friends at night I shower before and after. Me and my brothers would try and tell them that it doesn’t make sense for us with the jobs we do where all us workers sweat the minute we start working.

New uniform?? Why 🫩🫩

As the title says who in their right mind designed that new uniform and why? There was absolutely nothing wrong with the old one and the new one looks so goofy and is an eye sore (maybe that’s why - to help team members stand out). I can’t think of ANY retailer with a worse uniform. When my store renovates later this year will we have to wear that fugly primary school looking polo top and vest as well? Or can we still wear the old uniform? Hopefully I’m long gone by then 😪
