Optimising Tesco Woosh vouchers.

I've just received 3 x £10 off a £25 spend (and free delivery) Tesco Woosh vouchers.

I know the Woosh range is limited to higher priced items, and even then the items are more expensive than usual, but are there any tips to optimise?

Good value items on Woosh I can bulk buy etc

Accidentally (lightly) caught up in Middle Eastern sanctions, a rant.

Sometimes business just throws really odd problems at you.

We manufacture home furnishings, all designs have a name, often they're named after cities or locations that evoke a particular style. For example we might have a regal-looking piece called "Windsor" or a Mediterranean looking piece called "Santorini". A pretty typical setup for our sort of business.

We have plenty of styles inspired from all sorts of different cultures and countries, and we have some that evoke your traditional Middle-Eastern bazaar vibe - think terracotta, ornate carpets, that sort of thing. So, naturally, we have some designs named after places in Turkey, Egypt and... Iran.

A little while back we had a listing removed from a popular platform until we could prove it's country of origin. No problem. It took me a while to even realise that the name of the product was a city in Iran because it has been selling for so long. Anyway, the listing was restored and we carried on.

Since then we've had a steady increase in these and we've had to change a few names. Yesterday Paypal held a transaction for sanction review...

The worst thing is every time we try to speak to someone on a marketplace we're either hitting bots or we're just getting completely stonewalled.

It's ridiculous and a symptom of a much larger problem; marketplaces and payment providers removing the human element of their service.

Anyway... rant over. People say running a business is a lonely job and it really is, few people really understand problems like this. I just want to run my business!

What's the best way to remove weeds from the kerb outside our house?

The council used to come and do it but they don't any more and the road is looking pretty overgrown.

I have a rather laisez faire attitude to gardening and I don't actually own any gardening tools. What will I need to buy to do this? I'm guessing some sort of scraper, or will a wire brush work? And then just sweep into the bin? Should I weed kill it?

Pardon my ignorance!

This is the sort of thing I mean, albeit this isn't my photo.

What are your go-to optimisation / SEO / ad tips for a small ecommerce store?

I've got a small ecommerce store, our primary income is from marketplaces, but I want to drive more people to the website.

I handle pretty much everything myself as a sort of jack of all trades. I built the site in Wordpress / Woocommerce and it looks very good and functions well. But I'm wondering what are the go-to things that ecommerce experts do on their sites. Especially from the POV of SEO.

What's the "do this, then do this, and definitely make sure you do this" flowchart that I can use as a starting point. I'm not stupid, but I'm sure there are some unknown unknowns out there and I know SEO is something I lack.

Does anyone else find it really hard to parent in public while treading the line between the "Kids are kids" crowd and the larger childfree-adjacent movement?

Firstly, I recognise that I probably have a bit more anxiety in this regard compared to some parents, I don't really know why but for some reason I do.

And secondly, "childfree-adjacent" is a really clumsy term but I'm not sure how else to phrase it. I mean the people who insist restaurants should be free from kids. The sort who roll their eyes and complain on reddit when they get on a plane and see a child, or if a child screams in public.

I find this a really difficult plank to walk. On the one hand I'm happy for my child to walk beside me on the path and occasionally walk in front of a stranger before apologising, I would eat a restaurant with them and bring a puzzle that they may occasionally drop on the floor to keep them occupied. Kids are people too, we were all that age once, and we should all respect the newer generations as much as we (supposedly) respect the older ones.

But on the other hand I have this constant nagging anxiety that my children are disturbing people. Possibly stemming from my angsty days as a young "I'll-never-have-kids" type bloke.

This probably reads like I need to see a therapist but I suppose I'm just looking for some pithy ways you cope with similar concerns. I don't want to be the dad that shushes the kids when they're on the bus and looking out the window, but I'm scared of being that parent on the bus with feral kids.

Title says it all. I've basically read nothing but sci-fi for the last year and I desperately need to read something else.

I have a broad taste in TV and movies but I think because books are a bigger commitment I've stayed in a lane, but I've gone too far.

I've enjoyed a broad range of scifi books. Lots of epic spacefaring like Pushing Ice and Hyperion but also grounded sci-fi like Recursion and Rabbits.

The thing is I really don't know what I want to read. Back in the day I loved Agatha Christie and in a similar vein I enjoyed Evelyn Hardcastle. I really enjoyed Chris Wooding's Ketty Jay series (steampunk) and I loved Senlin Ascends (a series I hardly ever see mentioned but probably my all time favourite, a sort of light fantasy).

So I thought I'd throw open the gates, if you're like me and enjoy sci-fi but also enjoy xyz, tell me which book you feel bridges the gap between the two and I'll give it a go!
