What’s the best cost for hunters animal companions?

I’ve been having a blast with the new hunter cards, the animal companions and the 1 cost stuff are both great, but it got me thinking, I normally try to avoid having my companions at 9 cost, and often I’ll even keep them at 7/8 until I know I can go straight to 10. I’m curious about other people’s takes on this, if there’s any costs you avoid, or shoot for specifically? Just a side note but I hit diamond using the animal companion deck, it’s just a real good time 😊
