Egwene’s logic (AMOL Spoiler)

I’m listening to the audiobook version now, after many readings, and I’m confused about her logic. She states that Rand must move forward a patch instead of his plan to remove the old seals and start again. She adds that she has read all of the available histories and thoughts on the topic, so I assume this is the same logic those authors used as well.
Her argument is that removing the seals frees the dark one. However, Rand only plans to go from three seals to zero. It will be open exactly as much as it was during the age of legends. Certainly bad, but no more than what those historians had researched and/or possibly lived through themselves.
I just wonder how she got to that point of view after researching the topic. If I were in Rand’s position, I would have shot back with “if you want the seals patched so much, then you do it. I plan to battle the dark one, not make patches”

“PaTin-Nuh” or “Puh-Tee-Nuh”

I’m listening to the audiobook version of The Gathering Storm and there was a word pronunciation that I had never heard before.
Do you pronounce it patin-na or patina?

Thoughts on the additional material

I’ve read through the series multiple times, including A New Spring. I’m wanting to explore additional books/media now. Thoughts on the Companion book or the Origin of the WOT?

I’m just breezing through Winter’s Heart (audio version)

Setting aside Rosamund Pike’s narration of the Eye of the World, I got to say that this has been my favorite from Reading and Kramer. I think it’s mostly due to the focus on Mat.

Having read the series through several times, this is my first time trying the audio books.

Which ones do you like?

Do you have any printed versions that you enjoyed but felt different from the audio?

What if Mat had shared the knowledge of his memories

I’m going through the audiobooks this time after many rereads, and I’ve had this nagging thought. I wish Mat had a moment like Rand’s when he has all the memories of LT and he talks about it openly with Cadsuane or Min or whoever is around. There’s a scene where they are riding to meet the borderland leaders and Rand is just casually talking about his memories of the place from over 3000 years ago.
I wish Mat had a moment like that where he opened up and just talked about all the things he remembers. Whether with the Band or there in the Last Battle when he’s talking to all the leaders.

Dark Hounds in TFOH

I searched for any previous posts about this. My bad if this has already been answered.
Was there any explanation why dark hounds in earlier books could die by normal methods…I remember a scene where Perin took one out with bow and arrow, but in TFOH the dark hounds liquify and reform until Rand uses bale fire?
I don’t recall any other instance of that liquifying technique. After that scene in Rhuidean I only recall dark hounds either messing people up or dying by one power or Perin’s hammer.
