Thank you!

Good news: Because of all your wonderful suggestions two weeks ago I've had a blast these last few days - Nüburgring, Henry Haag Lake, Larch Mountain, Old Columbia Hwy, Portland and the west side. All new to me and very fun.

Bad news: Today was supposed to be the Fossil run, but given the heat, I decided to stay on the coast and go hiking. Broke my leg.

Rookie mistake. Should have chosen riding, of course

Good news: I rode an hour to the trailhead and had just started the hike when it happened, so, after breaking my leg (fibula, dontchaknow) and hobbling back to the bike, I put on my very stiff motorcycle boots and, because of this, the doc didn't have to re-break my leg to put the temp cast on properly. The moto boot evidently held my foot at just the right angle during the hour ride back to town.

Bad news: It'll be six to eight weeks until I can try one of those group rides

Suggestions.

Gonna have a week to myself soon - no work and the nearest family will be 2000 miles away. What's a poor boy to do?

I don't get to Portland and the surrounding areas nearly enough. Any favorite rides y'all have around Portland and the burbs? Any fav day trips from Portland to surrounding environs?

Any and all recommendations - save the coast and coastal range, please, as I ride here all the time - from the good folk of r/PDXrideit would be greatly appreciated.

Oh yes, and pavement only, if you'd be so kind. Thank you.

After the tourists leave . . .

Went for a ride last night after most of the tourists left the coast. Only a little traffic. Only a little rain. Only a little ride to Cape Foulweather.
