Karr firmware update

Karr firmware update

Does anyone use the Karr app? Apparently there's a recent firmware update that will prevent hackers from unlocking your car within Bluetooth range. I tried to update from the app per their instructions but it is forever trying to connect. What does Karr even look like in the Bluetooth connections list so that I know what to look for? Thanks.

am I ready? (based on Dion practice exam scores)

I am planning to take the exam very soon. These are my first-time scores for the first five exams on Dion's first set of practice exams.

1st exam = 87%

2nd exam = 87%

3rd exam = 82%

4th exam = 91%

5th exam = 81%

I'm running out of time to take the 6th exam (will try to do it during my downtime at work), and I know that there's a second set on Udemy also. I'm at a point where I just want to get this over with and take it before too much time passes and I start forgetting things (the "forgetting curve").

I've been reading on here that Dion's exams are very wordy and he uses super tricky language that can trip you up if you don't read the question carefully and truly understand what it's trying to ask. I came across a lot of concepts and terms that I've never encountered in my studies with other materials (Messer, Inside Cloud Security, Ramdayal, etc.) or the official exam objectives. I feel like continuing with Dion's practice exams will just lead to diminishing returns for me at this point. Instead I will just shift my focus to reviewing acronyms, ports, and weak areas. Any advice for my situation? (I actually just finished the 5th exam about 10 minutes ago and it kinda demoralized me considering the lower score compared to the earlier exams haha.) I hate how the wording of his questions makes me second guess myself and I end up getting the answer wrong after changing it last minute haha!

creation of an inter-bisaya language?

I recently learned about a constructed language called "Inter-Slavic" that allows speakers of various Slavic languages (Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian, Bulgarian, Czech, Serbian, etc.) to communicate with each other.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NztgXMLwv4A

I wonder if something like this is possible with Visayan languages. Inter-Slavic was pretty much made from an older form of Slavic that uses root words that are used in many of the modern Slavic languages. To construct a hypothetical "Inter-Bisaya", we can analyze proto-Bisaya and maybe gather all the common vocabulary from the major Visayan languages (Cebuano, Hiligaynon, Waray-waray) and exclude the false friends (or just keep the ones that are understood by the majority) and then go from there.

I'm just super curious how such a constructed would turn out, and it's utility among Visayan speakers.

Am I crazy for not caring about advancing/ranking up?

Still pretty new to the reserves. From what I see so far, a lot is expected of you once you make E-5 and then you might get voluntold to become an LPO once you make E-6. I'm just an E-3 out of boot camp and A-school, but I'm okay where I'm at right now and I don't feel "hungry" like the rest of my ship mates. I keep hearing about advancement exams and selection boards and what not, and I have a close relative who is trying to make Chief before retiring. I get that the culture is "move up or move out", but I'm content right now just showing up to the drill weekends and doing what I gotta do over there. I don't know if it's because I joined relatively late in my late 30s, but I'm not feeling that competitive drive like everyone else around me. I'm not driven by the extra money and "prestige" of ranking up, and I have a pretty stable government job on the civilian side which is my bread and butter.

Maybe I just need to give it more time, but I don't see the point in taking on the extra work (and stress) if I don't have to. Help me change this mindset, or if anyone else has similar feelings/opinions then I'd like to hear you out and about your time in the reserves so far. Thanks.

EDIT: Another thing to add ...I need to get in the habit of keeping a small notebook with me for drill weekends (and AT) because apparently I need to keep track of every little progress or productive thing I've done while there and send an email report to leadership by the end of the day. Also, it seems like taking these kinds of notes will help on the evals when the time comes for that (I haven't received one yet, that's how new I am.) because leadership will ask you what you've accomplished so far when they do your eval.

Got a surprise discount after calling customer service to cancel an unused cellphone line.

So there was a cell line on my account that hasn't been used for over 6 months now, and that whole time I didn't know I was still being charged for it because that phone was upgraded with a new number and I figured the old one would just auto cancel (yeah I know I should've been more proactive in checking the month-to-month billing). Anyways, that cancellation was quick and painless.

The customer service rep told me that she works with the "Loyalty" dept and checked for any other discounts they can give to me (I told them that I have both their wireless cellphone and Internet service), and she was able to bring down my monthly Internet bill from $78 to $60.

So it sucks that I've been paying for 6+ months on an unused line, but I'm glad that I made the phone call to take care of that and get an unexpected surprise discount so that cancels out some of my disappointment lol.

I have a coworker at my civilian job who is Army reserve and is trying to change branches. He was active Army before that. His current unit has him driving 80+ miles one way (he said he didn't meet the 100+ mile reimbursement threshold).

Right now he is talking to an Air Force recruiter and they gave him an offer that requires him to go down a rank (he is currently E6). I told him he should try Navy since we live in a city with a huge naval presence, and he might have better luck with us. He is currently a 68G which I imagine might transfer to HM, but if not he is interested in his previous MOS which was 15W which is UAV operator.

If there are any leads or someone here who can help or make a connection, I'm all ears (he doesn't have reddit or doesn't really do social media hence this post). Thanks.
