[technique] Why aren't my mushrooms growing :(
Hello all.
As the title may suggest, I am fairly new to this hobby. I made a shotgun fruiting chamber, planning to plant PF cakes in it. But instead I used a spawn bag. The spawn bag I used was large, and almost 75% of it was colonized (white and fuzzy). It also had a little bit of a foul smell and a little bit of a green colored water in some places. I thought the bag was contaminated and done for, but further research suggested that the mycelium can still be saved. I think the cause of this contamination was excess water in the spawn bag. ( I kinda used way too many spore syringes to incubate the bag in the beginning)
After 75% of the bag was incubated, white and fluffy, I cut the bag open and took chunks of healthy looking mycelium. I broke them into smaller parts and mixed it with coco coir and vermiculate, then I moved them to the shotgun chamber. It gets indirect sunlight throughout the day and I keep the moisture in the tub within 85-95% range. It has been a month, and not a single pin has yet emerged. I fear that my mycelium was doomed from the beggining, but I thought maybe it could prevail.
I still have the spawn bag that I used. I sealed it after taking out 75% of it. The rest of it is getting all white and fluffy. I plan on adding that mycelium into the tub as a last resort if no pinning starts. But I fear that I may just lose that last bit of mycelium too if my setup, technique or method is faulty.
What would you recommend? Should I wait longer? What may be the cause of my problem? The strain is Golden Teacher btw.
Thank you all in advance ❤️
