Multi-roll tape dispenser recommendations?

I’m looking for a dispenser that can hold and cut around 3-5 washi tapes at a time, to help organize my desk. Anyone have one they like and would recommend?

I’m hoping to spend under $20, but would be willing to save up for a sturdier one if it’s worth it.

New food-themed washi tape!

Just got this washi tape at a local food event last night. I was so excited when I saw it. I think it’s super cute!

Union hiring practices - Is this as shady as it feels?

I am based in the midwestern United States.

This is part question, part rant. Please let me know if I need to edit the flair.

I am a new Union member at my workplace. A coworker in the same union recently left, and we are now hiring to replace them.

After selecting our top candidates and calling to schedule interviews, HR has informed my manager that we MUST interview all current union members who applied for the position and offer it to one of them first, and they must decline the offer before we are even able to interview any external candidates (external including current employees in our department, who are not a part of the position’s specific union).

The opening was posted externally. 3 of our top 5 candidates are technically “external” and one is completely external to the company. Now HR has said they will call all three and tell them their scheduled interviews won’t be happening, unless an internal candidate declines the position. We also now have to interview an “internal” candidate whose application materials were lacking.

I am pro union, pro workers rights and felt so lucky to land this job, but it feels so icky and shady now. It is technically in the union contract, but I didn’t realize until now because I wasn’t planning to apply to any other positions. This seems counterintuitive to fostering a diverse workplace, and to selecting the candidate who is truly the best fit for the job.

Thoughts? Is this legal?

Book-themed stamp and washi tape recommendations?

I’m specifically looking for product and/or shop recommendations for book/literary themed stamps and washi tape.

I like Japanese stationery and JetPens is my go to, but I’d love to know about other options as well! I’m based in the U.S. and looking to shop online.

Superfan by Jenny Tinghui

Trigger warnings for the book: SA and child abuse

Has anyone read this? What are your thoughts?

Spoilers are fine since I’ve read the book already, but please let me know if there are guidelines about those since I’m new to the sub (I didn’t see any).

TLDR; Has some points of improvement, but unique and enjoyable (especially for K-pop fans). Balances some heavy subject matter with a light-hopeful tone.

This was my most recent read, and I enjoyed it a lot more than expected. My last read was a slog (took a month to get through even though it was short, and I contemplated DNFing multiple times).
Superfan was a nice change of pace.

It definitely gave YA vibes even though it’s classified as Adult Fiction, but it was kind of refreshing since I don’t read YA too often anymore. I do think the MC could have been a little more complex, and we could have gotten to know more about her past and inner workings, but other characters like Anna Peng, Akash and Halo were compelling. I would have liked to learn more about Anna and Akash actually. Their friendship with Minnie felt a little too convenient and instant when she hadn’t interacted with them more than once for 2/3rds of the book.

I liked the split POV and the Toni Morrison inspired chapter from Faye’s perspective. I also felt the book did a good job of balancing some heavy subject matter with a more light-hearted and hopeful tone. Overall I’d recommend it, especially to anyone who grew up as a K-pop fan, or any current fans. It’s a nice commentary on the culture and interesting to read from an “idol”’s POV.
