Hey everyone, just wanted to ask about something I’ve been curious about. I’m a 28 year old white girl from NY, USA. I don’t have a lick of Mexican, Spanish or any kind of Latina in general in me (although I think y’all’s culture is so beautiful). I speak a little Spanish but not much. Anywho, I was wondering if it would be offensive for me to create an Ofrenda in my home for the people in my heart that have left this world? I’ve been struggling with some very intense unresolved grief, and with the way America treats death and mourning in general, I feel like there has never been an emotionally fulfilling way to honor those who I have lost. I’d obviously look deeper into the history of the tradition, but I’m just curious. Completely understand if it isn’t okay, I will find another way! I think Ofrendas and the traditions of Día De Muertos are absolutely beautiful and such a soul-touching way to honor people and pets who are loved so much still even if they are no longer here. TIA for your help! 💕

Edit: After a lot of super helpful and insightful comments, I’ve decided to forego a traditional ofrenda and instead look into some traditional mourning practices related to my own ancestral heritage. Thank you again to everyone who said their piece and offered some info, it’s very appreciated. :)

Hey y’all, just wanted to let anyone who goes to the 2100 monroe ave CVS for their meds that their computers are down today and they’re not fulfilling any pharmacy requests. Just got a notification that my meds were filled and the pharmacy was closed with notes letting customers know they cannot fulfill orders. Just wanted to save folks a drive!

hey y’all. as the header says, first-time college student here. I did cosmetology fresh out of high school, and am now going to school fully online at MCC this upcoming fall and beyond. I’m wondering what I should expect in terms of online class experience, if it’s manageable to still work full-time while going to school full-time online as well, etc.

Is there something in the air on 590? Every single day, regardless of the time, 590 is essentially stopped for traffic. Can people not merge efficiently anymore? Why are people going 55 in the left lane when they clearly see a massive line of cars behind them and nobody in front? All 3 lanes are lit up with brake lights pretty much constantly. I just want to get to work, god damn 😭 Also, stop using your damn phone while you’re driving. And using your blinker is free, kthxbye
