Hammock camping in Costa Rica???

I am traveling to Costa Rica for three weeks in June with a friend. We plan on surfing in Nosara and Santa Theresa and hiking in monteverde cloud forest if possible.

To save money, we were planning to hammock camping outside of hostels and paying a bit to stay on their land and use their showers etc.

I solo traveled in Senegal last summer and did this most nights. I’m wondering if this is applicable for Costa Rica?

Has anyone done this? Is this common? Will I be able to find hostels that are willing to do this?

I would appreciate any and all input/ advice. Thanks! 🤙🤙

Buying boards for a surf trip in Costa Rica

I’m visiting Costa Rica this June for three weeks with a friend. We plan to surf the whole trip along the coast from Nosara to Santa Theresa. We’re worried boards are going to be expensive if we rent the whole time.

I was wondering if could buy boards somewhere in Costa Rica and then sell them at the end of the trip. From what I’ve seen- rental prices are fairly high and we’re traveling on a pretty tight budget so I was hoping to save some money by doing this.

Does anyone have any experience with this, tips, or advice? Would appreciate any info. Thanks!
