Random Thoughts about the lightstick and fanlight emblem
No more drawstring bag for carrying the lightstick.
New lightstick still uses 3xAAA batteries but the battery compartment is now at the base of the cupcake and no longer in the handle. No plastic battery holder required.
Lightstick synced up to SMTown app easily, but no new functionality available with it. You can control the lightstick color using this 3rd party Android app (compatible with older SM lighsticks). Not sure if iOS has a similar app though.
The cupcake can be unscrewed from the handle and used as a standalone accessory, which is neat. The handle part is hollow, useful for storing small items like the lightstick instruction sheet, extra AAA batteries or emergency cash/medicine/etc.
The topper logo is keyed at the bottom tabs where it connects to the cupcake and can only be mounted in 1 direction. If you have the power button facing you the topper logo appears reversed, which is unfortunate. Someone should produce a topper with a symmetrical design like the RV butterfly logo as seen on the power button.
The fanlight emblem is ridiculously overpriced for what you get. The silicone cake sprinkles (5 member initials, 5 ribbons, 5 dots and 5 jimmies) are tiny and hard to see once placed inside the cupcake. Hoping 3rd party/fanmade designs come out to outdo this shameless money grab by SM. Completionists' wallets will hurt when all 5 member toppers cost more than the lighstick itself.
Overall: Fanlight is nice if you can afford it but the topper is a pass.
