Knee pain improved

Has anyone else experienced an improvement in knee pain?

I’m mid-30’s office worker with tight hips and genetic overpronation issues with my feet. I’ve always worn orthotic shoes (dansko/sanitas girlies rise up) but knee pain has gotten bad over the last few years. I’ve been at my desk job for 4 years, sitting for a lot of the day, and before that I worked on my feet in fast paced hospitality.

I grew up riding as a kid but stopped in my 20s, and have spent the last 2 years getting back into it. A few months ago I upped my lessons from once a week to twice a week and in addition to feeling stronger and feeling my seat improve…. My knees feel so much better? Maybe from strengthening the inner abductors? Hoping this is a phenomenon caused by riding and not some other random factor.

Hips and low back are a different story. Those still kinda hurt, I’m guessing from having a weak core and glutes still.

Anyone else?

Shopfront

The salt from the sidewalk has eaten away at the bricks at the front of our shop. Is this something we could DIY? We are proud of our window displays (just above this in the pics) want to stay on top of it. Thank you

Waking up every hour

Hello,

Some nights for no reason (like last night) I woke up every hour to stress about nothing in particular. Or big picture things I can’t control. I’m not on any meds but thinking I should try something. Maybe cut out coffee?

Any tips would be so helpful.

Is this normal

I just reached out to a barn about lessons (I’m an adult amateur) and this was their response:

I typically inform my students before the commit that we'll most likely be doing at least 6-10 ground work lessons before we talk about you getting in the saddle. I'm very particular about making sure I have a horse that works well with students before progressing to saddle work as my goal for my horses and students is they can effectively communicate and work well together happily!

If this sounds like something you are still interested in, I have availability Tuesday's and Thursday's at 5pm. We could do an introductory lesson ($80 for a hour to an hour and a half) and see if you might want to continue with weekly lessons ($275/month) or twice weekly lessons ($550/month). The soonest I can start is the week of June 1st!

Doesn’t that like a lot of groundwork before even getting in the saddle? Plus I work full time at 9-5 type job so I couldn’t get there at 5pm… feeling discouraged

*edit - I grew up mucking stalls at a local barn, and riding on the weekends. I did formal lessons starting in elementary school, pony camp in middle school, and am currently in a lesson program that’s a bit far from home. I’m not a novice around horses by any means.
