Small pack: recruiting new den leaders

I’m in a small pack. I’m the den leader for Wolves ( 4 scouts) and said for the new year I would be the den leader for any Tigers who joined since we didn’t have a Tiger den ( or scouts). My plan is to have combined den meetings and try to recruit an assistant den leader to lead the tigers activities while I lead the wolf activities. Basically we’ll do opening and closing and games together and then the requirements separately.

Does anyone have a good script for recruiting parents who are brand new to the pack into being an assistant den leader?

I know directly asking individuals is the best way to get a parent volunteer for jobs but how have people successfully approached new parents about volunteering?

Clean house

We don’t have a housekeeper and both work full time. We have a three year old and seven year old.

The house is clean. All rooms picked up, all floors cleaned, no dishes in the sink, bathrooms cleaned. and laundry is done.

I needed to boast. Also shout out to my husband who does probably 70 percent of the cleaning and maintenance.

Explaining family’s house to my children

I have two young kids (7 and 3). My in-laws are hoarders ( they are also lovely people and kind, loving in-laws and grandparents). My kids are old enough though to start asking questions about their house. We never spend time inside their house. They come to our house or we have cookouts in their back yard. We use the bathrooms inside their house while doing cookouts.

Their bathrooms are filthy and my three year old refuses to use any toilets that have the slightest mark in them. Their toilets are really stained so we go and try and then my three year old refuses and asks why the toilet is so dirty. My oldest asks why we can’t spend time in their house.

How have other people handled explaining the state of family member’s houses to their kids? I want to be compassionate and also emphasize courtesy to my kids. Like I told my three year old that we don’t criticize people’s houses by asking why they are dirty. Eventually though I’m going to have to tell them more about this but am not sure how to go about it when the family members in question are in denial and it’s never spoken about.
