i had waterproof dressings that were only supposed to be changed out on monday by my surgeon (which is when i get my stitches out), but water got in them somehow and he told me to take them off at home (hence why my skin is so red). first time seeing my chest!!

when does it stop sucking?

i'm on my second day post op and already so over it. i HATE not being independent and while i'm very grateful that i've finally gotten the surgery, i'm incredibly frustrated with my lack of ability to do things and am just uncomfortable all of the time :( getting my drains out in 2 days which i'm sure will help but it's all way harder than i imagined it could be

scheduled for august 11th :)

after saving up for a while and taking out a (hefty) loan that i will steadily repay, i'm officially scheduled to have top surgery in august with dr adriano brasolin in são paulo! i'm so happy with my surgeon choice and very excited but also incredibly nervous about the recovery.

is there anything i should know about the recovery process going into this? any tips you wish you'd have known before? thanks :)

so tired of the issues being trans brings me

i've been going through some transphobia issues in the workplace lately that have really been affecting me :(

i have a coworker who i didn't have any issues with, until one time over 6 months ago when she just straight up called me a girl to my face. i was upset over a breakup (long term relationship) and missed a day of work, then made up some story about some physical symptoms because i didn't want to talk about it. she proceeded to imply it was related to hormones and said that "like it or not i was still a girl", asked if i had a period when i said i wasn't.

i reported it to my manager along with some other homophobic remarks i had heard from her, she no longer spoke to me afterwards and we left it at that.

i now have a couple new coworkers, and heard from not one but TWO of them, that she told them "you know (my name) isn't really (my name), right?". they have absolutely no reason to lie to me about any of this. i got sick of it and reported it to my manager and supervisor again, who both said they would talk to her about it.

she confronted me about it today, pretty much denying it ever happened in the first place, implying i lied to screw her over and saying it could've gotten her fired, that she doesn't remember saying it but if she did then she meant no harm by it, and ended it by saying that if i complained about her again she would take it as RACISM (she's a black woman and i am white).

i like my job and my other coworkers, and i've waited a year to be able to be on the schedule i currently am, but i'm honestly wondering whether it's worth it to stay there at this point because it's just been so emotionally and mentally draining. i'm terrified my other coworkers will think less of me and think i'm making things up because i dislike her personally.

being trans makes my life so much harder that i really wish i could be one of those "being trans is a gift" people, but this feels more like a curse than anything. i would give anything to never have to experience anything like this again and i'm so jealous that cis people don't have to go through this.
