Nokia N97 mini (RM-555) firmware package missing RM555_RM553_102_000_M012_8G.fpsx — need full refurbish firmware

Hi,

I’m trying to recover a Nokia N97 mini (RM-555) that was soft-bricked after flashing mixed firmware.

Phoenix detects the phone in Dead USB mode, but Refurbish fails because it requests this file:

RM555_RM553_102_000_M012_8G.fpsx

I cannot find this file in any firmware package.

Does anyone have the complete RM-555 firmware package that includes this file, or know how to restore the phone in this state?

Thanks in advance.

Nokia N97 mini soft-brick after firmware mix — Phoenix/JAF recovery issue

I accidentally soft-bricked my Nokia N97 mini (RM-555) while flashing firmware in Phoenix by mixing two different firmware packages.

The phone still gets detected in Dead USB mode, but I’m stuck during recovery:

In Phoenix, Software Reset starts writing firmware to the phone, but the process stops because the device rejects it, saying the firmware is older than the current one, even though I’m using the latest clean firmware files.

Refurbish mode does not work because Phoenix requests a file called: RM555_RM553_102_000_M012_8G.fpsx I cannot find this file in any firmware package.

I also tried JAF, but it fails due to a dongle key error, and the PKEY emulator cannot find JAF.exe even though it is in the correct folder.

Has anyone managed to recover a device in this exact state or knows how to get past this firmware/file issue?

Any help would be appreciated.

Is Nokia N97 Mini still usable in 2026 for email, messaging and basic browsing?

Hi everyone,

I’m considering using a Nokia N97 Mini as my main phone. I like the idea of a simpler device and I’m not really interested in modern smartphone-heavy usage.

I would like to know how usable it is today for:

- Email (reading and sending)

- Messenger / Facebook messages (or any alternative way)

- Basic web browsing

I understand it’s an older Symbian device, so I’m mainly interested in real-world usability in 2026 rather than specifications.

Would it still be practical for basic daily communication, or is it basically only suitable for offline use (music, games, nostalgia)?

Thanks in advance!
