Title says it all. Just asking because I don't really see anyone talk about this for some reason. She was born in 1998 which IIRC makes her the current youngest contestant to appear on the mainline series (season, Alex), not counting the New Years special. Or is she?

Just wanted to make a little appreciation post, because this has been on my mind a lot watching the show.

I sometimes find it difficult to describe Taskmaster to friends who haven't seen it, because it strikes such an odd balance. It's definitely not just a "normal" game show, as the tasks are often left intentionally vague, frustrating, or ridiculous. Some of the show's most beloved moments stem from the contestants completely deviating from the premise and going off on tangents. Even the final prize of every season is endlessly mocked and treated as worthless.

But it's not exactly satire, either. There is a genuine attempt to score the contestants fairly, and invest the viewers in the competition. Where some tasks may be downright absurd, others are just interesting creative tasks, or elaborate brain-teasers. There's nothing cynical about it.

I think that's what makes Taskmaster work so well. The execution allows for the comedians to take it however they like. You can completely circumvent or cheat the rules, and sometimes you'll even be rewarded for it. You can also take it so seriously that you start beefing with the Taskmaster himself. It's nearly impossible to break a show with this much room for contestants to take it as seriously or unseriously as they want, and that allows them to play to their greatest comedic strengths.

I just think that balance is fascinating. It's like Alex Horne engineered the perfect panel game show, while Greg Davies asserts just enough control to tie it all together without intruding on the talents of the contestants. This show rocks.
