Dinosaur bones get manis, who knew?

To round out summer vacation, I took my tween on a private lab and archives tour with a paleontologist at our local natural history museum. We got to see more real dinosaur bones than I’ve ever imagined in my life, help clean a few, and even hold some! It was amazing, highly recommend a similar experience if you find one near you!

During the tour, I asked the paleontologist how the bones were “finished” once they were full excavated and cleaned. He told me many are coated in Polyvinyl Acetate.

“Ah! Like nail polish base coat!” I replied. My son rolled his eyes 🤣 but yes, paleontologist confirmed, the very same stuff.

Who knew dinosaurs were so fancy?

Avatar State glowing THROUGH POLISH AND GLOVES!

I have been trying to take care of my cuticles, and I recently decided to slather on some lotion and cuticle oil before bed, and use gloves to keep from making a mess as I slept. My friends... not only did Avatar State GLOW THROUGH THE GLOVES, it was also under TWO LAYERS of nail polish!

I had put it on under one layer of Mermaid Bait for a few days (GORGEOUS) and then decided to cover it with a coat of Werewolf's Bane to extend it longer. My pointer finger had gotten an extra layer of WB before I decided one was enough, so that's why it has a dark spot. But... honestly this is insanity 😂 When we turn off the lights at night I do "bedtime drone show" fingers for my son and husband, this polish is ridiculous.

Final breakdown:
Base: Nail Aid 9-in-1
2x Mooncat The Avatar State
1x Mooncat Mermaid Bait
1x Sally Hansen red bottle QD top coat
(then a few days later:)
1x Mooncat Werewolf's Bane

Compare the GITD when they AREN'T glowing?

I am obsessed with Avatar State, and how unexpectedly pretty it is when it's in its daylight state - kind of pearlescent with that blue shimmer. I might be in the minority but I like the texture of it too, although I always use a top coat so I guess it doesn't matter as much.

With today being the last day for double points... I can hold off on most things until the winter sale, but I've been using Avatar State a lot and want a backup bottle. (I've also been using Holo Taco's Glow In The Dark Taco under manis and it's been working nicely to shine through, but it's not pretty on its own or as a topper like AS is.)

I'm looking at getting Green Eyed Monster and/or Moonlight Lullaby, and I've done enough research to see they glow really brightly! But are they pretty like Avatar State when they aren't glowing?

I'm supposed to be on a no-buy until the Polish and Beauty Expo, but then PPU this month is throwbacks I missed first time around so... my wallet is crying in advance. I can't buy all 3 of the GITDs I want now, and I know AS is limited edition, but I'm willing to branch out to another Mooncat GITD if it's a good one!

It seems obvious in retrospect…

Finally got my hands on LynBDesign’s Butterfly Pea Flower Lemonade, and was so excited to try it. A thermal that is ALSO solar? Whoa!

Last night when doing my nails, they seemed to transition fine (second pic). Today, I took the first chance to soak up some sun and get the solar shift to happen! It was great! But… even later indoors, even in the DARK, it wouldn’t change back. I couldn’t get the thermal effect anymore unless I ran my hands under HOT water, and even then it wasn’t fading nearly as white as last night.

Was it my top coat? Hmmmm…

Well, let me rewind a bit and mention… I also scored an amazing Holo Taco destash yesterday, and have been mesmerized by glow in the dark polish as a base layer lately. I can’t believe how it glows all the way until morning from UNDER other polishes! I decided I will never NOT have secret glow nails. In my destash, lo and behold, Glow in the Dark Taco. I had to try it over my base coat!

Friends. The GITD Taco polish soaked up so much light through the BPFL polish that my nails are stuck in solar mode - UV FROM WITHIN! THE CALL IS COMING FROM INSIDE THE HOUSE! 🤣

Seems obvious in retrospect… but in case it helps even one other person to know their solar polish isn’t broken… learn from my mistake 🤣

The most sparkle?

I’m somewhat new to Holo Taco, I’ve collected all of the unicorn skins but as far as polishes go, I only have Glitch and Glam. I picked it up at Ulta a few months back but never got to use it until this week.

I literally GASPED when I saw the sparkle, I’ve got so many glitter and holo polishes but nothing comes close to this one! I know the square glitters are controversial but I don’t mind them. The absolute rainbow of flashes this polish gives off are unmatched.

Besides the obvious (buying the rest of the collection), are there other polishes that have as much rainbow glitter sparkle and react the same as this one? I feel like I’m literally the starry eyed emoji. Even my husband and son were like “WHOA!!” With this one.

Desperately need more! Please help!
