EuroNCAP 5 Star Rating - TrailSeeker/E-Outback
While they still leveraged Toyota BZ previous results they did do a small overlap with the New Trailseeker - seems overall very impressive and is in line with the IIHS findings for the most part

I was always hoping to see more fully instrumented and in depth tests for the Trailseeker and finally here's one:

A solid review from Car and Driver. Identified areas where the Trailseeker could use (ie. Braking distance 70-0, skidpad numbers and cooling) improvement which primarily are of concern only if you're track focused.
I do wonder if they had the Trailseeker in X-mode as I think the 360 view still shows up at speeds above 6mph.
For those interested, I went ahead and purchased a dashcam for the Toyota BZ for my 2026 Trailseeker Touring and as I hoped, it works!
Wasn't sure if it would fit, but it's pretty much an exact match. There's a little bit of a gap on one side, but that's likely due to my so-so handiwork. The cover plate dimensions matches identically to the one in the trailseeker and the smart digital rear view mirror still works fine.
Adjusting the mirror is a bit tighter I've noticed, likely due to the back half plate that you install as opposed to the little cover on the OEM trailseeker plastic cover.
Installation was relatively simple. Just, move the rear view mirror at an angle where you can access everything easier. Pry off the top cover, then pull forward on the entire remaining plastic unit and then there are two red plastic clips.
You'll need to gingerly remove those, small pliers might help and transfer it over to the FitCamX cover plate. Then you unclip the black wiring harness and clip it into the provided FitCam-X harness.
Plug that back into where the black cable was, and take the small cylindrical connector and connect it to the FitCamX. After that it's a matter of cable management, making sure nothing is in the way and then sliding the unit back into place to make sure it mates up with the mounting points where the red clips were earlier.
After that you need to snap in the back upper half, engaging the two front clips first then the rear vertical clips.
The App isn't the best, but for an integrated solution it's seamless and helped me with a hit and run in my highlander as I've been running a FitCamX in that car for over 5 years now.
This video would be helpful keeping in mind its generic and not 1:1 for the trailseeker -

Also I only did the front camera.

Since picking up my Trailseeker last weekend, I went ahead and installed an Ancel 12v battery monitor. I don't know if it's the battery monitor itself or the DCM (data communications module) but when I park it overnight the car gradually drains about 30 to 40% every night.
Starting May 13th, it had a 12v battery SOC of 96% and then it dropped to 66%, then while driving it through the day it charged back up to 82-83% only to drain down to 48% the following morning.
At that point I got spooked and hooked up a Noco5 trickle charger I used on my previous cars to bring it back to 100%. As you can see after parked it dropped to 94-96% at night, then the next morning drained all the way down to 66%.
I've been keeping the keys as far away from the car as possible as well as locking the doors/closing out of the subaru connect app on my phone but it seems that there's some major parasitic drain on the battery over the course of the past 3 days.
Hoping someone has experienced this/has a potential fix they could suggest.
Great work by Tom Voelk and team, didn't see him post it up here yet:
After living and breathing what felt like the entire inventory of every single trailseeker from the West to East coast I managed to find a Trailseeker at the price I felt was fair.
Out here in the PNW Trailseekers were flying out of showrooms with pre-reserved units of course and any available inventory being sold within hours of being listed.
I was targeting the “sweet spot” in my mind which was the limited but got an amazing deal (at least on the West Coast from my perspective) on a Touring with roof rails and rear cargo mat thrown in.
Originally I had also targeted Daybreak Blue, but ended up with Brilliant Bronze and honestly the pictures/web configurator does not do it justice.
One thing I do have to say is that Tesla v3 chargers while you can charge on them, the cable is not physically long enough to reach the NACs port on the front. I ended up having to park across two stalls just to get the car close enough. I hear with v4 superchargers (the new ones with payment interfaces) those should be long enough, and my home charger which is a Tesla unit is plenty long enough.
I wish there was a way to set the Trailseeker to auto fold in the mirrors when the car locked, but aside from those minor quibbles the car is everything I hoped it would be and more.
Obviously it’s no ultra lux unit and you can tell where they saved money in areas people care less about, but from the driving dynamics, interface, ride comfort and power there’s no complaints.
I did have to drive over 160miles to pick up the Trailseeker but it held up well and got about 240miles (estimated with the 40 miles remaining). I honestly did get some range anxiety when I was going up the mountain as I was unfamiliar with the route I was taking back, but thankfully there was a downhill section that allowed for significant regen.
Hi all, sorry I know this isn’t the right subreddit, but seeing as how there has been many more years of solterra ownership I’m hoping you’ll entertain my ask. I just recently got into a 2026 Subaru Trailseeker and was quoted $760 for 36 months/30k miles for prepaid maintenance with a $500 Subaru credit after which could be used for service/parts/accessories at the end of the 36 month term.
I know typically the 6k services are just tire rotations and inspections but at an effective “cost” of $260 over 3 years is it worth it or should I cancel?
