PSA: AusAlert testing in parts of Liverpool today
From Liverpool City Council on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/share/p/195TAC5zuK/):
Test alert in Liverpool 📢
If you are in Liverpool on Wednesday 17 June, you might get a test emergency alert on your phone.
ℹ️ What do I do?
You don’t have to do a thing. Don’t get alarmed, there is no need to respond or report that you got the trial alert.
It’s simply a test. But in the future, when there’s an actual disaster you should follow the alert instructions to keep yourself and others safe.
ℹ️ What will happen?
At 4.00pm on Wednesday 17 June a TEST EMERGENCY ALERT will be sent to mobile phones in the area between Heathcote Road, Newbridge Road and Anzac Creek.
If you’re in the location or in the Liverpool area at the time of the test, your device may vibrate and a there’ll be a 10 second siren-like sound.
ℹ️ Why is this happening?
Liverpool is one of two areas that’s been selected to trial AusAlert – the new national warning system.
It’s a road test for the national system that is due to be operating in October. The same trial is also operating in the regional city of Queanbeyan.
If receiving the test could disrupt you or cause you or someone you know to feel unsafe, visit the AusAlert website at https://brnw.ch/21x3dTB to find out how to turn a Priority Alert off on your device.
