The Paradise is very fun and enjoyable but it's not necessary to have every single piece of the game accessible to you for it to be fun! I enjoy collecting too but I also think it's quite easy to get caught up in the excitement and ultimately end up losing the forest for the trees (or, ahem, the ocean for the glaciers).

People come to collecting Tamagotchi because they like to play with the devices (I assume). You are unlikely to be able to really enjoy 6 devices at once or to be able to explore their contents in depth in the way you could with a smaller number. Getting a new release is really fun and exciting but it's also easy to lose sight of things and end up getting more devices than you can realistically enjoy.

I'd love to see us as a community continue to create clubs where we can get together IRL so everyone can try out different devices without needing to own their own personal version of everything that comes out.

Anyway! Go kiss the precious lil egg babies you already own for they were once your dream tamagotchi too 😭

Ie: maybe you are the one person who really prefers touch buttons or maybe you think the P1 is the greatest tamagotchi of all time!!

My (mildly) controversial opinion is that I think the connections are more fun than the modern color tamagotchi 😬

I enjoy the paradise (and it’s what got me
back into tamagotchi after 20+ years away) but it is somehow both too complex and too simple.

too simple: It is very easy to get the characters you want, to keep your tamagotchi happy, and to rack up gotchi points.

too complex: the side quests (visiting other planets and what not) are cute but also kind of stress out the completionist part of my brain. I like that there isn’t anything like that to ‘collect’ in the connection.

I enjoy the frustration and randomness of the connections more lol. I like that how you take care of the tamagotchi gives you a chance at a character but doesn’t guarantee it. Additionally, the ability to put it in a pocket means I really do take it everywhere and something about that just hits for me in a way the paradise doesn’t so much.

I think my ideal tamagotchi would be a connection with an always on backlit screen.

I have been running a paradise for ~3 weeks now and am really enjoying it. This is the first tamagotchi I have had as an adult (I had a connection in middle school). I am really enjoying collecting the different species, but I do think the previous models gave you more of a sense of attachment to your pet which I miss.

I am also finding the paradise a bit large and not well suited to really taking everywhere with me the way I would with a connection.

If you could add only one other device to play alongside the paradise, which would you add? I am vaguely considering the uni, the smart, or the connection rerelease.

The uni might be the most appealing to me but it is also the most absurdly priced atm.

I am considering ordering it and reading it using google lens but I’d love to see a preview of the content.

I think part of the charm of the original was there were so many shell options you could find one that worked with your personal taste and style. The last handful of devices have seemed to assume everyone who enjoys tamagotchi has a certain very narrow aesthetic (pinks, purples, glitter, hearts, etc).

I know you can mod shells (and as a creative person I enjoy modding them) but having more options in simple colors (black, white) or with simple designs (love the classic clock design with the middle button as the center of the 6) would be awesome.

I also think the current designs tend to discourage kids who aren’t drawn to that aesthetic from enjoying the toy and that’s a bummer. The marketing seems to suggest the team thinks this toy is for girls and that is odd to me. Obviously boys can and do like pink and glitter blah blah. But plenty of boys (and girls and aduls lol) who aren’t about that enjoy virtual pets.

I went for Shiitaketchi as my first character on the jade forest because I thought his character art was very cute but I hate his sprite lol. He looks so angry and evil all the time lmao.

I got a jade forest earlier this week and am really enjoying it. I want to get a second device so I can have access to the sky characters but if new devices are coming this year I am probably going to wait with the hope that either frozen ocean or tropical paradise includes sky in addition to whatever the shell biome is.

Are y’all gonna planning to get the new shells?

I am definitely prone to overplanning and aiming to sort out exactly what to do to get the characters I think are cutest but simultaneously I feel like this ruins some of the magic of the game so am trying to avoid it

Anyone have recommendations on a case for the Paradise that will protect it in a bag and prevent accidental button mashing?

Ideally something clear that lets me see the tamagotchi without being able to button smash.
