June 2026 Business Wall of Shame: Monthly report (ecosmetics.com, epii)
Hi all, and welcome to our new monthly round-up thread about businesses that have toed the line with their interactions with the community. This will include businesses that have newly made it onto our blacklist as well as brands we have fired a warning shot to.
As you all know, business interactions are completely banned on this subreddit as we aim to provide a place for discussion that's free of paid influence. This includes reviews with a free gift disclosure as we do not believe that gifted products can truly be free of bias.
The Newly blacklisted:
ecosmetics.com
Not only have they done the usual annoying spam reports on threads with legitimate discussion like this one: https://www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/od1fux/anyone_use_ecosmeticscom_before_is_it_a_legit_site/
They have also gone as far as to have an employee(?) attempt to apply to be mod on this mod team with the underlying intention of removing discourse regarding ecosmetics. We didn't even spare the app a glance as it was pretty obviously AI generated but a week later, the same ecosmetics representative wrote us a modmail appealing to remove the offending thread.
Even after a direct rejection, we're still receiving spam reports on that thread so now they will be fully blacklisted going forward. You can thank ecosmetics for inspiring us to create this thread.
epii
Please see the thread by u/deadmangos here
As of now epii hasn't really had a presence or attempt at advertising on this subreddit, so they aren't a concern, but by all metrics, they also don't seem to be an actual asian brand. For now they will simply be getting removed under "Not AB".
Honorable mentions (Not blacklisted yet):
Hince
Gifted several users products to write reviews on, users posted reviews at the same exact time. Said users did disclose that they were paid reviews. They were removed and warned that we don't accept paid reviews either, and that's (hopefully) the end of it for now.
BeautyBoxKorea
Sus modmails/potential gifted reviews. The jury is still out on this one, and there isn't enough evidence that there's been rule breaking activity but judge for yourself.
If there are any other brands or suspicious astroturfing activity, please feel free to bring it to our attention and we will be happy to investigate further. Happy sheet masking!
EDIT: As an additional note, there have been several AB brands that have reached out and offered to do things like AMAs, what are the opinions on this? We thought it would be a good opportunity to allow users to transparently ask brands directly about product questions as well as raise concerns over quality, formulations and so on.
