6 months after revision and feeling so much regret

EDIT** **
If you’re just going to insist that my new nose is better, that’s not what I’m asking so please don’t comment. I’m asking about supratip swelling altering the proportions of the nose and if you have experience with how that progresses. Thank you.

I had a minor revision six months ago (my third surgery over the span of 17 years) to correct some tip asymmetry and place a graft. I know that I’m still in the thick of the swelling, but I’m starting to get so nervous- I used to have a really nice slope and supratip break, and now I feel like that’s gone and the lower part of my nose is looking very full and convex, particularly on one side. The supratip area can be compressed but the tip is still very firm. I’m worried that I ruined the best thing about my nose. I didn’t feel like there was going to be such a drastic change- just some tip refinement. I feel like it’s completely thrown off the balance of my face and I don’t look like myself anymore. I’m hoping very much that this is swelling related but getting more worried with each passing month that I made a mistake.

I had a steroid shot three months ago that left an indent which luckily resolved, but it did make me cautious about repeating it too soon. My surgeon told me not to tape, but I started to last week because I don’t know what else to do to move things along. Also started wearing the Nose Perfect device over the tape. I see my surgeon in a month so I’ll bring my concerns up with him then and possibly do another steroid shot. He is a good surgeon who specializes in rhinoplasty and he did my revision free of charge since he did my last surgery (first revision). I went into this so confident and have been totally blindsided by what an emotional roller coaster it’s been. I thought it was going to be so minor and it would settle more quickly but this has honestly been the hardest waiting game of all three. Anyone have this issue with stubborn supratip swelling completely throwing off the balance of everything and creating extra fullness that looks really disproportional?

With my last surgery, the swelling did take a long time to settle and I know this process, but my profile was good from the beginning and it was my front view that took the longest. I’m just really hating myself for going through all of this trying to get some refinement on a nose that I didn’t even hate, and now wishing I’d just stuck with what I had. I know there’s still time for it to resolve but I’m just really down about it right now. Logically I don’t see how he would’ve added this volume to my nose and think it has to be swelling, but it’s messing with my head looking like this for over six months now. First two photos are now and last three are before this last surgery.

Best home micro needling/stamping for steroid dent?

Hi everyone, not an acne scar but similar with the loss of collagen etc. I had revision rhinoplasty 3.5 months ago and got a steroid injection for the swelling 4 weeks ago and this indent formed. It looks terrible and is also drawing more attention to my swollen nose that I’m already really self conscious about. I’ve been doing everything to support collagen synthesis (red LED, high frequency, peptide and bakuchiol serums, supplements etc) but so far not much change, maybe very slight. I have heard that often these will resolve on their own in time so hoping that if I keep it all up and just have patience the tissue will bounce back. But I feel like I need to be a little more aggressive and access the deeper layers so wondering if anyone has recommendations for a good at home micro needling device. Something I can start out conservatively because my nose is still healing which complicates things. I was considering even doing a professional treatment with PRP but probably need something to maintain at home. Any advice would be so appreciated.

Spiraling over this steroid indent

Three months post-op from my second revision- this one was relatively minor, some tip work and grafts. I had a lot of asymmetrical swelling so my surgeon injected Kenalog 7 on one side three weeks ago. It helped the swelling tremendously, but I have a linear indent now. I had steroid injections with my last surgery, it was 12 years ago but I don’t remember having any issues. So nervous that this will not resolve, I’ve been through so much with my nose… my surgeon specializes in rhinoplasty and is very experienced but I have heard of people having issues with the injections. Has anyone had this experience? Hoping that it just needs time to rebound and in the meantime I’m doing LED and every collagen boosting thing I can topically but so far no change. I was trying to be patient but this week I started spiraling about it, please help :(

Steroid Indentation

I’m three months out from my second revision. This one was minor, but I was having some pretty persistent, asymmetrical swelling. It was actually making my nose look like I had a pollybeak from one side because it was so intense and not responding to anything I was doing. So, two weeks ago, my surgeon did a Kenalog 7 shot. It worked incredibly well and fast- the slope of my nose became visible again in less than 48 hours. Ecstatic about that, but it has indented a bit now. It’s not especially deep but just long and linear down the side of my nose.

I have of course heard horror stories of permanent indents and I’m trying not to let my mind go there. I had steroid shots after my last revision and didn’t have any lasting issues. For anyone who’s had this happen, how long did it take for the tissue to rebound? Really hoping that it’s just a temporary thing that my skin will bounce back from. I’m 36 and extremely healthy with very youthful skin so hoping it’ll sort itself out. Any positive stories about this?

My surgeon is a revision specialist and I think Kenalog 7 is quite conservative so hoping that’s more odds in my favor too.

Insane swelling immediately after steroid shot

3 months out from my second revision and my surgeon did a Kenalog 7 shot earlier today and the swelling is crazy. Like I have a huge lump on the side of my nose where it was injected and it looks like a hump. My last revision was 12 years ago and I had a few steroid shots over the course of the recovery, but I don’t remember anything like this. I know it’s probably just the fluid but it’s freaking me out to look at. Anyone have this experience and how long it took to resolve (and for the steroid to kick in)? From what I understand Kenalog 7 is pretty conservative.

Of course I love my son (22 months) more than anything in the world, and I feel guilty for saying this, but I just hate where we’re at right now. I’m neurodivergent and the absolute chaos and non-stop of it all is making me absolutely miserable. My son is also an extremely physical kid- not aggressive, but just very rough. I try to sit and play with him in a calm manner and all he wants to do is climb all over me, grab me, etc. Trying to parent the kid that I have but all of this is so uncomfortable for me, I’m really uncomfortable with how rough he is. And I give him lots of physical affection and demonstrate how to do this in a more gentle way, but trying to set boundaries goes right over his head.

The worst thing is how he interacts with my cat. Despite all my efforts, he just lunges at her and grabs her, usually by her legs or tail, while laughing. It’s gotten to the point where I don’t even let him touch her anymore, I just stop him before he even tries, because trying to teach him how to be gentle hasn’t made one ounce of difference. I have a book about how to treat animals, I have a stuffed animal that looks like her for practice, I show him all the time how to be gentle and it does nothing. I give up and now I’m just concerned about protecting her.

I take him to a co-op playgroup once a week, swimming once a week, and every day we have one or two outings. I’m trying to do things to get his energy out but it’s never enough. Getting him to focus on anything is such a huge challenge. I’m not sure if he’s demonstrating early signs of ADHD or if this is just normal toddler boy behavior. I try to get him to help me with stuff to keep him engaged and he’s just destructive. I can’t even get him to wash his hands- I try to teach him step by step and he just tries to run away or grab stuff around the sink. Can’t get him to focus on anything.

I’m doing my absolute best to regulate myself and stay calm with him but lately I’m so worn down that I’ve been getting snappier. Which I feel terrible about and I know it doesn’t help but I’m only human.

When does it get better? I can’t wait for him to start preschool so that I can have a little bit of a break but that’s not until next year. Not sure what to do until then.
