Summer Tire Install
I currently own a car with a full set of winter tires installed. I also have three summer tires and one extra rim, so I would only need to purchase one additional summer tire to complete the set.
I was quoted approximately C$200 for:
One new summer tire
Mounting the new tire onto the spare rim
Installing all four summer tires on the vehicle
My dilemma is that I’m not sure how long I’ll keep this car. I may sell it or replace it in the future, so I’m trying to make the most financially sensible decision.
I don’t know how to accurately measure tire tread depth, but I’ve already been driving on my winter tires through the summer and still have July and August remaining. Given the situation, would it make more sense to continue driving on the winter tires for the rest of the summer, or spend the C$200 to complete and install the summer tire set?
From a cost-benefit perspective, what would you do? Are there any factors I should consider regarding tire wear, safety, fuel economy, or future replacement costs?
