What fell off?

Last week I noticed that something appears to have fallen off my R12 Ninet. Attaching a photo as I don’t know how to best describe it.

I think there should be a circular black plastic cover/cap covering the round piece to the right of the footpeg. Pretty sire it fell off while riding so I have no idea where it is.

Anyone know what this missing part is called and where I can get a replacement? I’m assuming the BMW Motorrad dealership will want to charge me a fortune so I’m hoping for a more sensible solution.

(And I suppose I could just live without it but I prefer to replace it)

Purchase history across boutiques?

Plan to do some travel over the summer to different European destinations. Several of them have AP boutiques so I’m hoping to stop by for a browse and a chat.

If, by some chance, any of the boutiques have something I’m interested in (eg I am currently contemplating the RO Offshore Diver) and I picked it up on my travels, would this contribute to my purchase history with my home boutique?

I’m guessing on one hand it should as it would be from an official boutique and would be logged on my AP account that I set up at my local boutique.

On the other hand, my local boutique might not recognise the purchase as it was not made with them.

In the scheme of things it’s not really a big deal, but I was just curious if anyone knew the answer or had similar experience.

51(m) HENRY too old for FIRE?

Only recently came across the concept of FIRE but it kind of aligns to my personal aspirations over the past years. Wishing I’d been more savvy with spare cash in my youth but then again there never was much in the way of spare cash.

I guess my question is, what do people on here classify as “retiring early”? In my mind I always had 55 as my goal but having put off having children until early 40s that goal isn’t realistic now. I’m thinking 60 might be a more realistic target and gives me time to top up the funds.

Just curious what the consensus is (if there is one) on what we mean by Retire Early.

Picked up this beauty at the Vacheron ‘Club 1755’ on Old Bond Street (London) yesterday afternoon.

Less than a week since my first visit to the VC boutique - definitely a case of lucky timing.

According to the SA, I would likely have to wait a couple of months for this specific model (7920V) in SS with blue face. He also told me the time and date only model would likely have a wait of around 9 months, so I asked to be listed for the Dual Time. That was on Tuesday.

Then, the next day, I got a call saying the 7920v was available now if I want it. Turns out another customer had been allocated it but was overseas and wouldn’t be back in London until early next month. According to the SA, if he still has the watch in store at the end of the month, they won’t get an allocation next month so he wanted to see if I could get it before month end. That way, next month’s allocation can go to the original customer when he returns to UK. No idea if this was true or a line, and honestly don’t care - I made an appointment to pick up Saturday.

So, I turned up at the boutique yesterday afternoon and the SA said “let’s go to the 1755 club”. It’s a few doors down from the boutique and is like a private bar/lounge with various cool things on display. Spent plenty of time trying it on, drinking champagne and eating fancy sandwiches before getting it sized and taking a few photos in the sun on the rooftop terrace.

All in all, a pretty good day!
