GP has signed me off work but UC had told me to look for a job
I have a serious medical condition which effects my mobility and causes significant pain. I am currently prescribed Pregabalin and morphine, which I take daily. I really dont get out much because of my condition but when I do, I have to use a walking aid otherwise I will fall over in pain. I have been given continuous fit notes from my GP signing me off work since December. I have also been awarded the higher rate mobility from PIP, but the jobcentre has contacted me today to inform me that I do not qualify for limited capability to work and are now saying that I have to look for a job or my benefits will stop. During the limited capability for work assessment (last month) I gave them the same information that I gave when I applied for PIP. I have called the jobcentre today to appeal the decision but was told this is going to take some time. I had to wait months for the jobcentre to get in touch to conduct the limited capability to work interview as it was cancelled and rescheduled several times (by them, not me) since January. I asked them why they have decided I am fit to work if my GP has signed me off work and PIP have awarded me the higher rate mobility. The guy on the phone said he can't answer that but someone will contact me sometime in the near future to discuss. I have literally lost count of the amount of GP and hospital appointments I have attended over the last 4 months, and the travel costs have put me on my arse. What can I do other than wait for them to contact me "sometime in the near future"? Residing in England.
