Mary’s Engagement Dress

Hello all!

Not sure if any of you are gamers but a game called Dressmaker has been making waves recently. I’m properly obsessed!!

Been watching Downton while sewing dresses and decided to make Mary’s proposal dress. This pattern was the closest I could get to her skirt and the accessories don’t match but I think it’s pretty good!

Hope y’all like it!

Won’t Launch

Hi! Just bought the game on steam a couple minutes ago and it won’t launch.

I hit play and it’s just this black screen with the loading hourglass mouse. Turns white after a while and then I get the Windows error message asking me if I should end the process or wait.

Things I’ve tried:

Verifying integrity of game files, they’re good.

Changing to run as administrator.

I don’t think it’s my system since I am able to play Hogwarts Legacy, Sims 4, Elder Scrolls, and other heavier games. Scriptorium looks 2D-ish and was only 2GB so I didn’t think there’d be a problem.

Please help!

On Angela’s recent crash out

Edit: Just want to clarify that I am absolutely not hating on Angela. She’s one of my faves and I also know she sometimes plays it up for the audience. Really just wanted to give my two cents about this topic since it was “significant” to me lmao and I wanted some healthy discussion in the replies. Cast members like Angela usually say things with so much conviction and passion and that engenders the same emotions within the audience. We also want to express our opinions and discuss thoughts with other smosh fans about whatever topic they raise in their videos and I think that’s fine and healthy. If you think it’s not that serious, then why are you here? On a free space for smosh fans to discuss things? Have some nuance. Exercise your brains.

“Significant” means “of note.” Meaning it was noticed by many or it meant something to a lot of people.

“Culture” is the shared set of beliefs, values, behaviours, etc. that a group of people have, use, learn and then pass onto the next generations.

“Culturally significant” just means the combination of those which is something that is of note, that means something to a group of people. Something that a community gives importance to, usually something that affects their identity, history, and daily life.

Angela argued that significant means it changed something which I think is wrong. Significant just means it meant something to someone. Culturally significant doesn’t mean it had to have changed something in all of culture in all of our history. It can just be that it meant something to a large group of people at a certain point in time of our history.

I see some people in the comment separating “popular culture” and “internet culture” from the wider “culture” and I don’t think that’s needed. While you might look down on people obsessed with twitter or popular trends, these things do affect culture significantly over time. You can see this in microtrends affecting economy, internet slang becoming common language, and internet-learned social behaviours changing us through time.

The blue and black or white and gold dress absolutely meant something to so many people at one point in time and it still keeps coming back throughout the years, meaning it was significant. It was and is of note. The fact that you mentioned it to a room full of people and they knew exactly what it meant, means it was culturally significant.

Culture doesn’t have to mean the fine arts and ancient history. It includes every shared set of beliefs, customs, and attitudes used by a community. Which, even if you’re embarrassed or look down on it, includes the internet and social media. It is now intertwined so strongly with us at this point in time and denying this won’t help you.

First time playing Oblivion OG

Hi guys,

It’s my first time playing Oblivion!!
Actually any Elder Scrolls game.

Shoot all your beginner tips and tricks without spoilers for me, please!!

Also, one of the beginner videos on youtube said to do the duplicate trick to earn money right at the start and get all the cool gear and stuff. Would doing that ruin my experience in the game? Like, I didn’t earn anything as a first-time player?

I’ve also been seeing some people say that I shouldn’t do Kvatch so early because it’ll ruin exploration and gates open everywhere. I already did it…. Should I start a new game lmao?

I just want to say I’m so excited. I wanna be in on all your jokes and the lore!!

Private Lessons in Piety

Edit:
Found!!!!! https://asylums.insanejournal.com/churchofsnarry/1737.html

So uhh

There was a fic by dementordelta called Private Lessons in Piety, Snape is a priest and Harry is an alter boy. Smut ensues.

I used to be able to just search it on google and access it but now I can’t. I tried Wayback Machine but it doesn’t work sadly

It’s apparently accessible on insanejournal but I don’t have money to pay to get an account nor do I have a friend to give me a code.

Does anyone know a way to access this fic? Is there a secret Snarry archive out there that you can share with me please?
