Pictured here, we can see the telltale “Mercedes” guard of a C. G. Conn sax… on a 1925 Buescher True Tone bari. Any idea what’s going on here? Tech agrees that it looks original to the horn, not a replacement that happened at some point. I’m stumped.
What it says. Some time in the next few years I’d love to get a baritone. I’m happy to go with a used instrument and I don’t care much about aesthetic damage that doesn’t affect playability. (My secondhand alto is named Harvey after Harvey Dent, due to the asymmetrical damage to the lacquer.)
