I sent an email to him that Total Wine had queued up via a QR code on flyers they were handing out when I last purchased some THC drinks from them, and he sent a reply (see photo).
Nebraska just killed a $139 million industry because a THC seltzer scared them more than alcohol does.
It’s seriously such a fucking bummer, and just plain stupid, to ban a product that makes the state $139 million a year and has created close to 2,000 jobs. Nebraska is staring down a $300 million+ budget deficit and we’re about to torch $7-10 million a year in sales tax revenue over a loose THC drink. Make it make sense. You can’t.
I’ve been off alcohol indefinitely since April 1st.. Low dose THC drinks have been a massive part of that. 5 to 10mg maybe 15mg, that’s it. Not some high-potency nightmare amount lol, a legit low dose that helps me wind down and sleep every night. And I’m one of the lucky ones. I’ll figure it out when this gets banned in November. A lot of people won’t. Vets with severe PTSD, people managing chronic pain, folks trying to walk away from alcohol or opioids the same way I am, they’re about to lose a tool that actually works, with zero deaths attached to it. Not one. There has never been a single confirmed death from a THC-only overdose. Ever.
Meanwhile alcohol kills 178,000 Americans a year. Liver disease, drunk driving, cancer, violence. Sold on every corner, zero outrage, zero bills to ban it. Nobody’s writing form letters about closing an alcohol loophole.
Republicans cannot help themselves. They find something that works, makes money, creates jobs, and helps people get healthier, and they ban it out of pure fucking reflex.
Freedom, unless it’s a fucking plant. They won’t blink at adults poisoning themselves with a substance that kills more people than car crashes and gun homicides combined, but god forbid someone cracks a seltzer with 5-10mg of THC in it to help their mental struggles.
