Lore Nerds: Shattered Plains terrain

Hey folks, non-book-reader here working on a mini for my character now that she's a surgebinder and I wanted to dip my toe into basing for the first time. I figured the shattered plains would be a good starting point but the more I look around the more trouble I have figuring out what the actual ground looks like. I was originally going to use crackle paint (see attached image from EonsofBattle on YT) but I now realize I don't know if the actual ground of the plateaus looks like that. I'd love any advice from people who have either done this before or do art or have some idea of what the ground atop the plateaus looks like. Also planning to model a rockbud out of green stuff or something, maybe prickletac if I feel masochistic.

Free RPG Day at Glendale Community Hobby Night

Hello all! My local hobby night is going to be hosting a big RPG extravaganza for Free RPG Day! Our local hobby shop, Cook's Crafts, sponsored a few free rpg day kits and will be doing givaways both at their store and Monday, June 29th at Glendale Community Hobby Night. Full disclosure, there is a $10 venue fee to keep the event going but we don't do gm fees or anything like that. Our local gms will also be hosting a number of one-shots! We will have:

Legends in the Mist: a narrative focused high fantasy game where you use descriptive tags and abilities instead of stats to power your actions

Heart: The City Beneath: a game about delving into a nightmare undercity that will give you everything you’ve ever dreamed of – or kill you in the process.

Vampire: The Masquerade: a one-shot about murder, revenge, and how, even in a world of beautiful, deathless monsters, paying someone back is more complicated than it seems.

Vaesen: uncover the Archivist's Curse in this Nordic horror monster-hunting one-shot!

We'll also have a Pathfinder game, the Stormlight Archives rpg, and giveaways for most of the games listed above. This hobby night was concieved to support the Queens gaming community post-covid, and we'd love to see new friendly faces. Let me know if you have any more questions!

Date: June 29, 7:00 P.M. (come a bit early to spend more time browsing the goodies!)

Location: 68-01 Cooper Ave, Glendale, Queens (we have parking! Feel free to drive in!)
