The lower ratings haunt me.. I need closure on what I did wrong

Hi everybody! I would love to hear your thoughts on designing this the living room and adjacent hallway.

The first two pictures are the living room: I do not want a tv and never will, so just need a couch, a coffee table maybe a rug and mayyybe a compact table somewhere. I just can’t figure out where to put things, especially the couch! I want it to be “floating” and not touching the perimeter but I don’t think I really have the room for that.

Rest are my spooky hallway.. I want at least one storage unit there but not sure what, I don’t want to make the path too narrow! If it matters, the first door you see to the right side is the entry way closet (very far from the entry way lol) and left side is the laundry room. The wall you see jutting out towards the end, the bathroom’s there and the entrance is around the corner on the left. The laundry room is weird too.. but lots of room. The bedroom is by the living room, door not pictured.

A little about me.. single/divorced 28 year old, no pets, I like whites, beiges and pops of pink and champagne! And I hate IKEA because they’ve done me very dirty, so ideally no ikea but I don’t mind references for inspo and then I can buy it from a store that won’t steal a thousand dollars from me.
