Ilhadiel Errant Knights

Tl;dr built Errant Knights with Ilhadiel's Order of the Ancients for my Bretonnians. Very satisfied.

First time working with Ilhadiel Miniatures' "Order of the Ancients". Very nice and simple models that retain a lot of Bretonnian old school vibes. Just look at the derpy horses, it's great! Never liked the idea of the current errant knights just being normal kotr with different heads, and here the Ilhadiel guys are a very good alternative. You also get a lot of very nice helmets. Painting is easy and fast, I would recommend these for any beginner.

On a sidenote: first time ordering at Forja3d in Spain. They put your printed minis in neat blisters with foam and everything. Very nice!

None shall pass!

Finally finished the Black Knight by Highland Miniatures. I always thought he was a boring mini but here come the top 3 reasons why you definitely need one in your Bretonnian Army:

  1. The lore fits perfectly into the Warhammer universe. Just as if they took inspiration from Monty Python's Holy Grail.

  2. He will be your fastest mini ever painted.

  3. Actually you get two minis. One well and alive, the second separated into body parts so you can choose how severe the flesh wound on your knight will be (see last pic).

Brionne General

Brionne General for my Old World Bretonnians - wanted him to be a bit rugged but still brightly coloured. Went without a shield, I think he looks more dynamic that way. Model is by Highland Miniatures.

Drummer Knight

I was never the greatest fan of equipping a bretonnian knight with a trumpet so tried a drumset as an alternative. Knight and horse are Highland Miniatures, drums from GW MAA.

Bretonnian Prophetess

Finally finished the "infantry" prophetess for my Old World Bretonnians, so my lady duo is done. Models are by Highland Miniatures. As spectacular as the mounted lady is, the foot prophetess is quite basic but a decent mini anyways.

Tristan le Troubadour and Jules le Jongleur proxies

Tl;dr: Built my own Tristan and Jules for my Old World Bretonnians with Highland Knight, parts of MAA and FFG.

I figured I would never pay the moon prices for any ancient bretonnian mini and it should be feasible to build my own Tristan the Troubadour using one of the errant knights' heads. But then I decided to make things a lot easier by veering from the traditional pose. Tristan consists of Questing Knight body, GK helmet and KOTR horse (all from Highland Miniatures); Jules the Jongleur needed to have a mount or he would continously get trampled down by the other knights: His upper body and head is from GW's MAAs, lower body a Firfeforge Games knight.

Singing Tristan without helmet will also come later, but as a Foot Knight version.

Disclaimer: no Dawi grudgepony was hurt or dishonored in the process. I sat in close counsel with over 1000 dawi warriors living on my shelf and they said it was okay and appropriate for Jules to use it.

Two Bretonnian Grail Knights

My first two Grail Knights for my Old World Bretonnians. Was not convinced of the result at first, now, some weeks later, I like them again. Models are Highland Miniatures.

Bretonnian castle for the Old World

tl;dr finished my bretonnian castle for Warhammer the Old World; 3d printed by WAWBattlefield. Took three pots of Dark Reaper and two pots of Nuln oil.

My quest of creating more bretonnian terrain is going forward: finished the Castle. The 3d printed surface was rough to paint (really needed good priming or paint would come off). Also visually you can see the printing structure in many places. As for the big vertical gaps: I have to store and transport this beast in several parts, it's just too big.

Another flaw: some of the merlons on the smaller towers are too close together which makes no sense. But it would have been too much work to correct it.

Yet I am not complaining, it is a great object on the table. Too big to be actually used in a game but still...

And confidentially among us adults here: this would actually be a great toy castle for children with drawbridge, portcullis and everything.

I added some details mainly to the house: chimney, fireplace, dormer window, interior decoration etc. Also the small moat, various birds' nests and plants. Thinking about adding some more flowers.

The backside (gate side) has two huge vertical flags so I decided to go all in with colour. Lore says it is manned by the Bastonne faction of my Grand Army hence all the yellow.

Things that still need some work: the hinges of the gate and house doors are still provisional.

For the last two pictures I dug out my old modular castle built for my Fireforge Crusaders and went creative.

Bretonnian Noble Estate

Tl;dr: built a Noble Estate for my Old World Bretonnians out of two GW Fortified Manors

It's basically two parts that can be arranged in different combinations with the Manor's original connecting piece or used separately for maximum battlefield flexibility. Tried to erase the Empire out of it by adding plenty of heraldry and wanted it to look like a romantic fairy tale chateau. The kit is one of the best GW ever published I think. The best thing: I now have enough battlefield fences for a lifetime (only half of them in the pictures).
