Did I make a mistake?
Red - me (keeping to the left hand lane, going straight over)
Yellow - other person (inside lane)
I had a near miss on a roundabout like this recently and want to know if I messed up.
I am the RED line on the map. I was taking the second exit, straight over. I checked several times it was completely safe and clear in BOTH lanes when I entered the roundabout.
I barely blinked and a massive Range Rover (YELLOW line on the image) cut straight infront of me to the exit on the left, literally the side of their car was right in front of my bonnet. They must have been travelling at speed coming from the opposite direction. I did not see them at ALL and we missed each other by inches. I have a bright red car and my position was clear. I wasn’t indicting as I was taking my second exit. I didn’t see if they were indicating as i said, I blinked and the side of their car was in front of me where the lines cross on the image - it happened that fast I didn’t even see their approach or where they were coming from.
Were they going too fast? Was I in the right lane? Should I just chalk this down to a near miss? Is there anything different I could do in the future?
