Question about price matching other fiber ISPs

I currently have AT&T gigabit fiber and love it. EzeeFiber is coming to my Houston-area neighborhood; they’ve been pulling the “main lines” along each street and I expect them to go live in the next few weeks. They’re advertising prices about $20 less than AT&T. I don’t really want to switch because my AT&T experience has been near perfect, but wouldn’t mind a smaller monthly bill. If I call AT&T customer service and advise them of Ezee’s availability and rates, can I expect AT&T to match their rate?

Just saw a news article saying the average cost per gallon is $6.01 in California. (I assume that’s for the 87 octane that most people use). Here in the Houston area the prices at Costco (Top Tier) are $3.75 for 87 and $4.15 for 93 (I always run 93).

I used to drive my ‘24 3.3 exclusively in Sport mode and didn’t drive it too hard, but I did love to hammer it from a stop light or basically any other time I could. Decided a couple of weeks ago that this might be a good time to see if I could get better mileage by not driving it quite so hard.

So now I keep it in Eco mode and accelerate much less aggressively most of the time. Most of my driving is on surface streets with daily short runs a few exits up or down I-45 and the occasional jaunt down to Galveston. My lifetime mileage in this car is about 18 mpg, but since starting this experiment three tanks ago I’ve been able to get up into the 20-22 mpg range. Nothing to brag about, but it’s a start.

What about you?
