Long runs with tempo included: What shoe ??

Hi guys,

I plan the Nice-Cannes marathon in November, hopefully hitting 3h45 (5'19/km) , or at worst sub 4.

(edit: i am M37, 177cm/5"9, 74kg/ 163lbs and my HM PB is 1h40)

In my plan, from august on, i have:

_ Sundays: LR 21km (+1km each week) with 3km to 2x 3km tempo included

_ 2 shorts runs (1h)

_ 1 medium run with warmup, tempo (up to 6km) and cool off.

What shoe rotation would you go with ??

Long run + super daily ??

Long run + daily ( 5min/km isn't that fast ? )

i often see long run shoes recommanded but my LR have tempo in it, would it be ok to go 3km at 5min/km with something like the vomero ??

I did try several shoes that fit me well;

ADIDAS Evo SL

Boston13

SAUCONY azura

speed 5

Asics Dynablast 5

Going into another shop on thursday

Actually I run in Hoka Rincon 4

I do all type of sessions without problems (10x200m/100, 8x400m/200m pace 4min/km or15km LR)

Big thanks in advance !!!

Speed sessions: adizero sl2 ok ??

Hi people:

H37, 177cm, 74kg training for marathon this november and probably back down to 10k/HM next year (work reasons)

Is the Adidas Adizero sl2 good for speed sessions/intervalls on track/road, at pace 3min/km to 4min/km ??

Would it also be OK for under 1h easy run at pace 6:30min/km

Would you recommand something else in this price range (80-100€)

Help building rotation (training for marathon)

Hi everyone and thanks for all the great infos shared here !!

some infos about me and my run experience.

I am H37, 177cm 74kg

Started road running may 25', did two HM in June (1h55) and November (1h40)

This year i subscribed for the Nice-Cannes full marathon to be my 1st on road ( did the marathon du mont blanc 8 years ago, as my peak trail experience)

I ran my two HM and all the trainings with the Hoka Rincon 4. I actually had 2 pairs, one is dead now and the second one still has a bit of life.

The Rincon 4 were totally fine for me, no injure, no trouble, the low drop (5mm) is ok too. lightweight and breathable.

Here some PR with them:

5km 22:30 (during hm)

10km 45 (during hm)

400m 1min15s

I still have 26 weeks til marathon, 4 weeks of MAS speed work, 11 weeks volume and marathon pace, and 3 weeks taper.

4 runs per week, 45km per week now (peak at 65km)

I follow a kiprun pacer training plan based on 3h45/ 5:19min/km.

My easy pace is 6:30, tempo 5:15 to 5:20

actual MAS is 15 km/h

HR 50(ish) - 200 bpm

And you can see in the pic my last 15km Long run (hot temp here in France) data ( pace, average HR, max HR)

Also, i train this year for marathon, but i think next year i'll go down back to shorter distance 10k and HM

\_ Now how do i need your help ?

I want to build a proper shoes rotation, and need to buy 1 (maybe 2 in long term) pairs of shoes, but i'd like some more feedback, and thoughts.

I see 2 options:

Go for a speed oriented shoe, i'll use for my MAS session, and for intervals.

Then in august or september buying a long run / marathon shoe, and keep my rincon 4 for short runs ?

Get now a comfy long run shoe, use the rincon 4 for my speed sessions and/or short run and in september buy a marathon race/tempo shoe ?

I have a coupon for a website where there are actually those shoes discounted:

Adidas adizero sl2 88€

Boston 13 or Supernova 3 108€

Asics Novablast 5 125€

Gel Cumulus 109€

Nike Vomero 18 113€

What do you think is smarter on the long run and for my marathon target ??
