I bound Avulsion (April 2026 ES) into an A7 size mini book

I started learning bookbinding 2 years ago, and since then have been eyeing various digital stories (especially ones you can't easily buy a physical copy of) through the lens of, how can I make this a book?

For Avulsion, the first storylet with the gold letters on the invitation immediately made me think ooh, if I print this I can gold foil it! Then the "you are unmoored" bit in the dark, had ideas for cool things I can do with that. By the time I finished the story, it had become one of my favourite ESes, and I started seriously working on the typeset that same day.

I've been saving Fallen London text into my own documents for a while and tinkering with page layouts, but this is the first one I've properly printed and finished. (I completed Nemesis last week, which will probably my next project)

Construction details: it is an A7 sewn boards binding, the variation where you cover everything in with one piece of material instead of having a separate spine piece. cover and endpapers are both marbled lokta paper, pages printed on Marshmallow Warm Ivory paper, sewn with 30/3 linen thread dyed with Hosia Old Dreams fountain pen ink

For years my grail notebook has been one with 7mm dot grid, I like dots but the usual 5mm is a bit too cramped for my handwriting. Alas the few I found for sale cost a fortune to ship to Australia.

I've also been learning bookbinding for a while, and can now make my own notebooks to my exact preferences! 200 pages of Iroful paper which I find delightful to write on, printed with 7mm dot grid using my laser printer, covered with hand-marbled paper, and 2 bookmark ribbons.
