Always around, always noisy, but such a photogenic bird when it decides to stand still for a second. Love that yellow eye makeup.

Spotted this Black-winged Kite (Elanus caeruleus) perched on a dead tree at Bhandardara Wildlife Sanctuary, Maharashtra.
He sat there for a good 5 minutes, just scanning the grassland below. Those red eyes are unreal in person.

Caught this male Loten's Sunbird (Cinnyris lotenius / Long-billed Sunbird) right after a shower. That iridescent blue-purple really pops against the wet green leaves.
Still learning to differentiate from Purple Sunbird - the longer bill was the giveaway here.
Purple Sunbird gets all the love, but the Loten's with that scythe-like bill is my favorite. You can even see a water droplet on the tip of the bill.
Spotted this beauty just sitting still on the compound wall after the rain. The contrast of the brown, bright blue wings, and that moss green background was too good not to click.

White-cheeked Barbet is a Western Ghats endemic, often confused with Brown-headed Barbet but that white cheek patch + brownish crown is the giveaway.
