Thailand/Vietnam Advice

I had made plans to go to Thailand and Vietnam for a solo trip in late August to October. I wanted to go to Bangkok, Koh Tao, Koh Phangan, Chiang Mai, Hoi An, Hanoi, Ha Giang, and more.

I had picked my flights and was gonna buy today.

But, I’ve seen 2 things that concern me, and I’m having serious doubts:

  1. The weather: I underestimated this. I thought it wouldn’t be a big deal. Until I did more research. And saw that most places flood, Chiang is terrible, Hoi A gets typhoons, etc. Overall this does not sound like a very pleasant experience. Not at all the same thing as “short rain in the afternoon” like it is described.

  2. Crowds: I wanted to stay in social hostels. And do the party trail. But I hear that this is the low season. Granted, I don’t know what “low” means, but this also puts me off.

Can I ask for some opinions. What is it like? Is it worth doing it now or waiting till December/next summer?

Looking for streaming sites where I can download movies for a long flight

As the title states.

P.S. this is mainly necessary because despite it being 2026, it is still virtually impossible to download things on Mac. No netflix app, no disney+, nothing. Just prime video... Apple really take the piss sometimes

Solo travel questions

Hi,

I want to solo travel Vietnam and Thailand in August and September. I just have questions regarding what solo travel really entails.

So, I want to do a heavily social solo trip. So I'd stay in social hostels etc. These organise group activities in the evenings so that's cool. My question is how solo really is solo travel? Apart from the evenings, do you generally spend the days exploring by yourself? For example, if I go to Hanoi, would I do things with other people from the hostel during the day and then hostel organised activities in the evening? Or does it really just depend on the place and people etc.

I ask because thats probably my biggest fear about solo travel. I'm not someone who likes walking about exploring by myself; I find it somewhat boring. Do I need to modify my expectations?

Portfolio Opinions and Advice

I want to redo my portfolio, yet I’m struggling to decide what to buy.

- Long term portfolio.
- I want to sell most/all of World Index, as it overlaps 65% with VUSA.
- My cash figure is high because I just realised gains on Pacific index (95% gain).
- I’m interested in sector ETFs (semi, energy, etc.).
- uncertain about emerging markets.

Vanguard S&P 500 (VUSA): 31.50%
Fidelity World Index: 20%
L&G European Index: 15%
iShares Pacific (excluding Japan) Index: 6%
iShares UK Equity Index: 9%
Cash: 12%
Wolff’s Top 15 Fund: 5%
Aerospace & Defence: 2%
Gold: 1%
SpaceX: 0.5%

Would really appreciate some advice, both on my portfolio currently and on what I should do with it.

I paid £550 for a Charles Tyrwhitt suit. I feel like I overpaid massively.

I got a two piece suit for £550. I feel like for what I paid, the quality is not on par with other brands around that price and it’s not worth it. I paid full price.

I’d appreciate some opinions on Charles Tyrwhitt. What is the general consensus on their suits?

Many thanks in advance.

Vietnam/Thailand (+ potentially Cambodia) Weather

Hi,

I want to solo travel Vietnam, Thailand, and potentially Cambodia (Siem Reap, Phnom Penh) between mid July and early-to-mid September.

I’m struggling to decide on the best order to do it. The main factor is weather.

For context, I’m wanting to do a more party/social trip, with exploring too of course. Things I want to do include: Ha Giang Loop, Koh Phangan (full moon party), Koh Tao (for diving, sail rock), Bangkok, Angkor Wat potentially (been there before, but want to see it again as it is the most astonishing place I’ve ever been to).

Can someone please help me out. Thanks

I want to see maximum love towards Gabriel today

For me, he was man of the match last night. He was absolutely immense. A rock. He has been immense all season. The penalty miss overshadowed what was a defensive performance for the ages.

Penalties are cruel. Wycombe Wanderers could beat PSG on penalties; that’s just the way football is sometimes.

I will not tolerate any slander towards Gabriel.

Ferrari Luce in next update

I hope they add the new Ferrari to the game.

Not because I like it or want to drive it.

But because I want to drive it off a ramp into the ocean.
