8W2L is aaaall glutes

I started 8w2l because I wanted to work on my cardio endurance (idgaf about being “lean”) - and it’s working! My Fitbit tracks my cardio health score and it has been steadily on the rise since I started this program. But be warned - every single workout is a glute burner. I’m used to rotating muscle groups so they have a chance to recover, but Woody is literally not giving my ass a break. I can barely get in and out of chairs!

Any experience growing purple oxalis from bulbs?

I have some purple oxalis I planted from nursery starts years ago in a shady region of my yard and they have come back beautifully every year. I want to try planting a row of like 20 of them, so it would be most economical to start them from bulbs. Anyone tried that here?

Home grown watermelon tasted like socks

I have a watermelon plant that came from I think a Bonnie start that I got at Home Depot back in April and it finally yielded a nice, volleyball sized, beauty of a melon. I cut into it and the flesh was ruby red and juicy. I handed a slice to my toddler, then my husband. Suddenly my toddler is spitting it out and saying “that’s yucky”. Then I heard my husband retching. I took a nibble and this thing tasted like dirty socks smell. It was naaaaasty. What went wrong??

Wild violets as ground cover?

I took this photo in a shady spot at Ft Worth zoo recently. This was about one square foot of ground for scale. I really like this ground cover and Google says it’s wild violets. Has anyone tried to grow these in Austin? Are they friendly or invasive?

Dexa says my skeleton weights 5 lbs?

I got my first Bodyspec Dexa scan today. I want to get these quarterly to track changes in body composition with my lifting. I'm a 41 yo woman for context. The report says my bone density is in the 85th percentile for my age/gender cohort, which is great and I'm glad to hear that. But then it says my total bone mass is 5 lbs. I asked their "ai assistant" and it said yes, that means my whole 5'4", apparently quite dense skeleton weighs 5 lbs. Google is telling me a woman's skeleton usually weighs between 15 and 22 lbs. Is this a flaw in the Dexa results? Or are skeletons lighter than I thought?

So it costs $10 to go to Leander now?

I signed my kid up for a day camp program in Leander. I knew 183 had added toll lanes. I naively did not realize that north of a certain point all lanes are toll lanes and it was costing me $4 - $5 per trip, nearly $20 per day, to drop the kid off at this camp and pick them up later.

Not only is this a massive middle finger to everyone who works in Austin and moved north trying to get a more affordable COL, it's a huge disincentive for anyone in Austin to journey up that way to visit a business or restaurant or church or whatever may be going on. Whose bright idea was this??

Anyway if you need me I'll probably be sitting at a red light somewhere on Parmer for the foreseeable future.

What will it entail to move this stovetop?

I’m making an offer on this house. I have young kids and I don’t think we can move in without reconfiguring this stove layout, but I’d rather not do a full kitchen remodel right away. How feasible would it be to cap the gas line and put an induction cook top on the back wall? The house was built in 93 and there is currently a vent running down into the island and out into the back yard. Would we have to rip out all the cabinets on the back wall? What do you think?

My kiddo loves our Toybox 3D printer and wants more filament for their birthday. We would especially love to get some of the more fun colors and gradients, such as these: https://overture3d.com/products/overture-silk-pla-gradient-filament-1-75mm?variant=46991428813054 Has anyone had success with these? According to Toybox support the device prints at 210 degrees C, and these say they work in the 200 - 220 range, so it sounds like it would work, but I would love to hear first hand experiences.

I'm planning a Rainbird drip irrigation setup for ornamental beds in my front yard. I am planning to do a basic grid/outline in 1/2 inch tubing, then have 1/4 inch "branches" to each plant. I need the system to hop over a sidewalk into a bed that's bound in by building or sidewalk on all sides. It would be easiest and least ugly to run 1/4 inch tubing through one of the cracks in the sidewalk. Once it's on the other side, can I have the 1/4 inch tube feed a 1/2 inch tube that runs the length of the bed? Or should I stick to 1/4 inch for everything on that side of the sidewalk?
