Brand new litfic, 299 + s, non negotiable. Blocking on payment only. Covenant of water, olive kitteridge, the correspondent. Prefer someone who takes it all

Shipping from Pune, price non negotiable. Prefer someone who takes all 3.

299 each plus shipping

I’m aware the price is on the higher side - it’s intentional as that is the price I am willing to part with them for, as they were lovely reads :) if it doesn’t sell I will just keep them. Might be relevant for someone in Maharashtra such that shipping is lower.

Goldfinch Donna tartt - exchange or sale

Bought this on flipkart and finished it, but it’s not original. Looking to exchange it, someone who wants to read it but not too keen on everything being intact - some pages are a little loose but they are all there.

Looking to exchange with any contemporary fiction or business/finance non fics. Alternatively I’m selling it at 100 plus ship. I know selling non originals is not encouraged hence looking to exchange.

Overall it was a decent read, would work for people who enjoy long reads about one persons internal and emotional life, there’s a lot of internal conflict but I wasn’t bored as such, kept me engaged. Those who enjoyed a little life might like it, although it has lesser dialogues and is more focused on the description of internal emotions vs external events.

Reflections, advise and last round sale (all 150plus ship)

Hello! This weekend I did a big sale of my entire book collection. I wanted to share some reflections, along with a final list of some of the books leftover, plus a small line on why I like a couple of these books – if it encourages you to explore the book, I would be happy.

On the sale, I met a whole bunch of interesting people, but honestly the negotiations up and down are so tiring and anxiety inducing. I have been on both the side of buyer and seller, now I understand why people prefer buying from known sources like Amazon. I am firstly very sorry if I was difficult with anyone – there was one particular person, one of the first buyers – where I was still dealing with a lot of enquiries, and I mispriced the books – that led to us canceling the deal. A mistake on my end, I’m genuinely sorry.

What I did enjoy was looking at all my books all over again, thinking about where I was in my journey when I had purchased it. I’m really excited for everyone to receive their books, people on this sub definitely know the joy of getting to open a book and the joy of thinking about the exciting things we’re going to read or learn.

I would also love buyers and sellers thoughts on how to deal with negotiation anxiety. It’s really brutal – in general I am also a bit oversensitive as a person – and find it difficult to go up and down on negotiations. In some cases people are actually quite rude – how do you deal with rude people? Twice in the process because 2 people were rude I was quite miffed – definitely soothed by my 15 wonderful buyers who were easy to work with. Shoutout to them – met some wonderful people here who were so easy to negotiate with as well, I’m really happy to have met you.

The below is a photo of a couple of books that were left over, and which I’m selling for 150(plus ship) each for just today, as I’m shipping everything and closing out this sale by tomorrow. Since many of you also asked for recommendations but we couldn’t find a convenient time, this is for you :)

One thing I really, really enjoyed is getting to know a person and looking through my bookshelf to see if I might find something they enjoy. If anyone wants me to do this for them, I’d love to! My bookshelf is significantly reduced so I cant sell anything to you but I have read more than 5000 books since I first started reading, so I would be happy to help in case anyone is just starting out :)

Some recommendations:

On Sal Mal Lane – a litfic based on a family’s life during the Sri Lankan civil conflict – I am from Chennai and was present albeit not so aware of the racial conflict in Sri Lanka, and at the time while it didn’t seem so bad – during my bachelors degree I had visited a camp for SL Tamil refugees in Chennai. Hearing their stories made me appreciate this book all the more – it was an easy read, the conflict is not fully detailed but rather more subdued, litfic style – and the descriptions of SL and the family’s difficulties and triumphs were very beautiful.

AI one liner about the book: A lyrical coming-of-age novel set against Sri Lanka's civil conflict.

The Courage to be Disliked – I’ll be honest, during times of mental distress I have often turned to useless self help books quite a bit, I have atleast 30 self help books in my collection. However I really enjoyed this one because it was easy to read, based on actual philosophy, and I did feel like I could implement the things they spoke about. I’ve annotated a couple of paragraphs in this in terms of what that specific theory made me think.

AI one liner about the book: An introduction to Adlerian psychology and living freely without seeking approval.

Smart money moves: This is by far my favorite – not in terms of readability but because of my own philosophy – saving, investment and insurance is one of the most important things we can do for ourselves. I was very clear about my savings goals (bought only books basically) and that is one of the main things that makes me financially independent and stress free today. This one in particular I enjoyed above the rest of how-to finance books I’ve read simply because it’s easy, easily implementable and targeted towards Indian savers.

AI one liner about the book: A practical guide to managing personal finances and building wealth.
My Feudal Lord – I read this book when I was first starting out as a feminist – one of the books that really exposed me to what life is like for even rich, well settled women in certain areas where more conservative religious ideas were followed. At the time I was a very strong Left winger so I thought I wouldn’t relate – thought it was rich girl problems, but it was very insightful and well written – I felt like I was in her shoes almost.
AI one liner about the book: My Feudal Lord – Tehmina Durrani – A powerful memoir exposing abuse, patriarchy, and political power in Pakistan.
Freedom – The first book I read of Franzen’s, I really enjoyed this one. His writing is way too American – you can clearly see it – but its nice to understand how middle class in America acts and reacts, and its an easy read. If you’ve been thinking of Franzen this one is the one to start with (not Corrections even though it’s a top 100 book).
AI one liner: Freedom – Jonathan Franzen – A sprawling family drama exploring love, ambition, and modern America.
12 rules for life – Generally known as a bit of a crazy right winger, I found this book to be quite sane. His writing is similar to how he is – he has strong opinions and doesn’t mince words, but I enjoyed the writing style and found the advice to be relevant. I’d recommend this to someone who needs some light when they’re in the dark night of the soul type situation.
AI one liner: 12 Rules for Life – Jordan B. Peterson – Twelve principles for finding order, responsibility, and meaning in life.
Corpse bearer – A very different read. I’m surprised why this one isn’t more famous – many different sects have been written about but this was the first to write about corpse bearers in India. It was a difficult read emotionally, but I emerged more aware of my own privilege and circumstances. Those who enjoy Kite Runner esque reads may like to try this one, definitely more intense and not as heart warming, but worth it.
AI one liner: Chronicle of a Corpse Bearer – Cyrus Mistry – A moving novel about caste, love, and dignity among Mumbai's Parsi corpse bearers.

AI one liners for all of them:
Here are short one-line descriptions for each book shown:
·       My Feudal Lord – Tehmina Durrani – A powerful memoir exposing abuse, patriarchy, and political power in Pakistan.
·       On Sal Mal Lane – Ru Freeman – A lyrical coming-of-age novel set against Sri Lanka's civil conflict.
·       Dracula – Bram Stoker – The classic Gothic horror novel that defined the vampire genre.
·       David and Goliath – Malcolm Gladwell – How disadvantages can become strengths and challenge conventional wisdom.
·       The Courage to Be Disliked – Ichiro Kishimi & Fumitake Koga – An introduction to Adlerian psychology and living freely without seeking approval.
·       Smart Money Moves for Grown-Ups – Vinod Desai – A practical guide to managing personal finances and building wealth.
·       The Book of Woman – Osho – Osho's reflections on femininity, relationships, and the role of women.
·       The Giver – Lois Lowry – A dystopian novel about memory, freedom, and the cost of a "perfect" society.
·       Freedom – Jonathan Franzen – A sprawling family drama exploring love, ambition, and modern America.
·       Atomic Habits – James Clear – A practical framework for building good habits and breaking bad ones through small changes.
·       Life of Pi – Yann Martel – A philosophical survival story about faith, storytelling, and resilience.
·       A Whole New Mind – Daniel H. Pink – Why creativity, empathy, and design matter in the modern economy.
·       12 Rules for Life – Jordan B. Peterson – Twelve principles for finding order, responsibility, and meaning in life.
·       Purity – Jonathan Franzen – A literary novel about identity, secrets, family, and the pursuit of truth.
·       Chronicle of a Corpse Bearer – Cyrus Mistry – A moving novel about caste, love, and dignity among Mumbai's Parsi corpse bearers.

Genuine q: how do sellers on reddit source so much?

I’m new to this sub and honestly shocked at the number of people selling luxury products that are usually super pricey - but what surprises me the most is the sheer number of products per person. Every once in a while I see a fellow normal human who sells a Swiss beauty/ kay which is used and that makes sense, and I also understand tira splits (which is you get a deal for a bulk order and then split the products, I assume). But how the hell are people sourcing 100s of products across laneige, sol, charlotte tilbury etc and selling them for half the price? Is this like a proper business model im unaware of? What are the margins? Even if we source it from abroad - I’m guessing cheaper countries like Vietnam? Isn’t it a huge risk to buy a whole bunch in the hope that it will sell? Would love to know how you guys do it! Just out of curiosity and also so the rest of us can know it’s coming from a source we understand :)

Where or to whom can i complain abt a tenured professor working at IITM as a 3rd party?

I'm the wife of a PhD candidate in one of the engg depts at IITM. There is a prof there who is tenured ?(if I'm not wrong) and has completely ruined the life of PhD candidates.

He is lazy, incompetent and completely abusive of the tenure system. He has not graduated any PhD candidate in the last 10 years, and only last year when they all got together and complained - he got his shit together and started graduating people. My husband in question has been doing his PhD with him for almost 9 years. All his students submit things on time and all of them have the same complaint - he uses IIT facilities and barely does any work. He uses any random excuse to not finish work on time. My husband and another friend moved to industry after their stipend ended but there are still a few candidates whose stipend period is over but still stuck with him.

Now that my husband is graduating, I would like to issue a serious complaint against this professor such that it is taken seriously by the IIT administration. Whom can I complain to? And what should I expect? I'm even ready to go and stand in front of the dean's office until they listen to me.

Because of this prof, my husband and other candidates in his dept have experienced great mental trauma, doubts about their career and severe stress. If not at IIT itself, where else can I complain?

Thanks in advance

When does booking open at jazz for New movies?

I’m trying to get in to an IMAX show at jazz for odyssey on any day post July 17. They’ve opened it for 17,18,19 (fully booked) and nothing after that.

Does anyone know when they will open the rest? Eg at what time, how many days before ?

Would really appreciate the help - this is my husbands dream and we are only around in Chennai for a week after 17th - he recently finished his phd after 8 years of struggling with a horrible horrible guide, so I really want to get him the tix.

Alternatively if anyone has a working phone number for jazz? All their numbers are not working

Is this a scam and how can I report? Neusource startup minds

TL;DR: A startup in our accelerator paid ~₹60k to Neusource Startup Minds after being told they would get access to investors and potentially raise ₹5–10 crore. After digging into the company, I found what appears to be a network of service providers being presented as investors, little evidence of actual startup investments, and marketing that seems designed to exploit founders desperate for funding. The whole thing raises major red flags. I’m looking for anyone who has actually raised money through them—or can confirm whether this is simply misleading marketing or something more serious.

Actual:

I work at a startup accelerator. One of the startups we work with recently told me they paid around 60k to this company called “Neusource Startup Minds” based in Delhi to help them with fundraising. They claim to host investor meets and pitch days.

I feel this is a scam. From what I understand, they take money from startups claiming to “invest” and host fake pitch days with fake investors. They told my startup they will invest 5-10 crore after working with her on her business model. First of all, NO INVESTOR takes money claiming to work on business model. I mean, if you have crores lying around to invest in startups then why do you need 30-60k to be paid?

Secondly, their list of “investors” seem to be very shady. See below a list of their website and relevant personnel:

Founder:Hemant Gupta, you can find him on LinkedIn.

For the website. Type Neusource world on Google

So called “investors”:

Swapnil Pandey from “vanavya consulting” - this fellow is barely 22 and claims to be an investor. Looking at his profile he doesn’t seem to come from some sort of big family office background either (in which case it still is believable)

Other “investors” are basically service providers for startups - lawyers, accountants, digital marketing etc. I think this company onboards such professionals and asks them to pose as investors so that they can have access to startups that may pay for their services, and then I’m sure Neusource takes a cut.

The offering of startup services seems to be the only realistic part of their business is that they seem to offer some compliance services - legal, taxation etc. but even then a lot of their reviews seem fake. (See Google maps reviews)
And also, it is completely misleading to claim that these ppl are investors when they are clearly not. I’m from a finance background and know how to find out who has invested in what by looking thru public company and investment databases - can’t find these “investors” anywhere!!

They also post very scammy and aggressive content on YouTube - shark tank style videos etc - but I can’t find any actual investments done by these so called “investors”.

My request:

  1. Is this a scam or has someone had a good experience with them? Even if they do good work with startup services (tax, legal etc) it is completely bad to pitch these ppl as “investors”!!
  2. *This seems to be not fully illegal but also misleading. Where can I report these ppl?* I work with startups on fundraising for free (our accelerator is funded by govt and large companies as part of CSR etc, similar to govt funded accelerators) and I know from experience that fundraising is painful and difficult. They are abusing the pain entrepreneurs go through in trying to get money to build something.

30F - magarpatta & nearby - new to Pune - startups/impact/ finance

Hello! I’m new to Pune - been in Chennai and Bangalore for most of my life. Looking for new friends in Pune, preferably nearer to magarpatta or up until Shivajinagar

A little about me and what I’m looking for - I’ve worked in impact finance and startup finance for a while - interested in meeting people working in the development sector/startups/finance/ impact investing or any related sectors - but open to meeting people from any sector in a group! I’d be happy to take the onus of forming a group to meet like minded people - preferably aged 26 and above - I find that i would like to meet people more consciously with similar interests.

Im married and not looking to date - just putting this out there in case there’s anyone around who might be remotely interested in the topics above.

I’d also be happy to host a meet where we can talk personal finance/ startup finance :)

Edit: just to reiterate - 1. I’m happily married and not interested in meeting men to date or have random conversations :)

  1. Please don’t dm with finance doubts 😛

  2. While dming please give some context on your interest area so I can respond appropriately!

  3. By development sector I mean impact and social work etc - agriculture, health, gender etc - not software development :)
