Was given my grandfathers pocket watch, wanted some more info.

Was told its silver but while I slightly doubt it, most of the engravings on the first inner cover has faded. No. 1932 is stamped on both inner sides of the covers. Key wound, winding it made it tick for a brief few seconds and then die out again. Also is it even worthwhile to get it restored, or keep it as it is as a memorable piece. I don't want to mess it up any further.
