Hoping for info on this Silver Cased Keywind Hunter Marked E. Polland, Belfast

I've had this for some time and all I've been able to find out is that it's from 1886 and most likely custom made. I'd like to know if it's a desirable piece or just another paperweight. I don't think it runs, but I don't have a key to try it to be sure.

Hamilton 992B

Found this at a local shop. It will need some service as the hairspring (I think, still learning) won’t continue to rotate when held vertically.

I’d like to get into watch making/repair. Not sure if this is the piece to do that with, but I’ve been eyeing pocket watches along with wrist watches.

Looking for informed thoughts and opinions on if it’s a good piece to learn on (parts available etc) or should I get a professional?

Any info would be amazing!

My partners mum recently found some of her families old pocket watches, I know basically nothing about them and I was wondering if anyone could tell me some bits about this one which seems to be in the better condition of the three

Looking for a recommendation

I'm located in Central Belt, Scotland. I have an Elgin that I'm looking to get an exhibition back for. Mainly cause it's just so pretty. Can anyone recommend someone reputable who could do this. My local servicing guys or jewellers won't do it.

What do I have here?

I was given this piece a while back and don't really know anything about it. I was able to find info about it on pocketwatchdatabase, but I don't know what any of it means. Any help is appreciated.

How would I go about finding more information about this pocket watch my Grandfather gave me?

I’d love to take a look inside as well, but the only thing I dared try was unscrewing it. It’s either stick or opens another way.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Family member gave me this

Family member gave me this pocket watch. Been trying to figure out what it is but can't find much online.

- Says "THE GRENWICH CANADA" on the movement and dial
- 15 Jewels Adjusted Working and ticking
- Case has floral engraving Case stamped "GUARANTEED EXPRESS 20 YEARS"
- Serial number looks to be 124987

Tried pocketwatchdatabase.com and Google but nothing comes up. Any help identifying it is appreciated. Thanks!

Creating a Frankenwatch?

Hello all! Pocket watches are a recent interest of mine, and some time ago I got my hands on a pretty nice Revue GT from an auction. Predictably, it doesn't work, or rather it doesn't keep time properly. Sometimes the minute and hour hands run too slow, sometimes the mechanism ticks too fast, and other times it mysteriously works just fine. Mainly at night, for some reason.

I haven't had any luck finding spare parts for it, and I'm starting to lose hope, so it's gotten me thinking something pretty silly.

Would it be possible to replace the antique movement with a recently manufactured one? If so, where would one buy such a thing? Are modern pocket watches "dissassemble-able" enough for an operation like this?

The face of its current movement is 43,5mm in diameter, which i think places it around 16s, if that helps at all.

Pocket Watch ID

Hey guys, I have this pocket watch that was passed down. I have no info on it except it’s been in the family for years. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Grandmother gave me theseq

My Grandmother gave me my pops old watches. One says 14k which seems good. Are any of these rare? What does “UBOSS” mean? One of them had numbers that are barely visible etched in the case(not the stamped numbers). Are blue screws relevant? Someone offered me xxx so just want to be sure one of them wasn’t Albert Einsteins or something.

My great (great?) grandfather’s watch

I was dressing up in 20’s era garb and had bought a costume jewelry pocket watch for this gala. My mom reminded me that one was passed down to me when I was really young. She found this beauty and it still works!!! I’m definitely wanting to get it refurbished and tended to, perhaps even have the cracked face (assuming glass?) replaced if that’s possible? Would love any insight or advice on where to start. I love it so much!

Thanks in advance!

Pocket watch ID?!

Have no idea what I’m looking at. Found it in a passed relatives house while cleaning it out. Appears to be real gold although I can’t find a stamping. Only stamping inside the case is “148725”. Appreciate any and all help. Thank you!

Waltham Riverside Maximus

This is from my father’s estate and he had a small collection of pocket watches, around a dozen, but this one was the only one he marked a value on and it also appears to be the heaviest and is likely 14k or 18k gold. This one was marked that he had “turned down an offer for $1100 in 1990”, and I’m wondering whether or not that was a good decision. I don’t have a reputable jeweler contact and I’m hoping that I can rely on Reddit to point me in the right direction. I’m just outside St. Louis, Missouri, there are plenty of jewelers close, but I have no idea where to start. I can’t say that I’m interested in owning this much longer. He also had a few nice wrist watches and that’s my keepsake. Any idea on value or the best way to get rid of it?
