Sold this 9k gold trench watch for $1300 and still regret it

34mm 9k gold trench watch, one of the softest cases I’ve ever worked on — press too hard and it starts looking like a crushed can

Polishing it was a nightmare because you have to be careful with every bit of pressure

I sold it for $1300 a few years ago and honestly wish I had kept it

Would you wear something this fragile or keep it safe in a drawer?

Need some outside opinion on this suspicious watch with Elgin’s Knights of Pythias Uniform Rank dial art from 1889

From my research the dial art is from Elgins pocket watch for Knights of Pythias Uniform Rank but it is missing the trademark on the dial furthermore the person who is selling the watch also sold the watch on the last pic. My question is; is this a “Frankenstein” watch, made with a printed dial art and antique mechanism or is it from late 19th ct- early 20th ct

Pocket Watch Found at Thrift Store

Hi, I was hoping to get information on this beautiful pocket watch I found at the thrift store. It is marked 10k so I know it is gold, but I know nothing about pocket watches. I believe it is a pendant and not a pocket watch.

Can anyone tell me the possible year it was made and any other information possible.

Thank you!

My wife thinks I ruined it. The original case still slides right out.

So I had this old 38mm silver pocket watch. Enamel dial, niello on the case, probably sitting in a drawer since my grandad's grandad.

I wanted to actually wear it, but I didn't want to mess with the original case. So I designed a silver extender in 3D, cast it from 925 silver, and polished it.

Now the watch just sits in it. Slides right out if I ever change my mind. Original case — untouched.
The enamel gave me some trouble during polishing. Chipped a bit, had to fill it, fire it, polish again. You can't really see it now, but it was a pain.

Anyway. Looks decent on the wrist. What do you think?

Pocket Watch

I am on the hunt for this pocket watch. It was a family heirloom and was meant to be passed down to my dad. My Dads brother sold it around 2017-2018 and I am trying to find it to give to him for his 60th birthday. Any information about the watch even if anyone knows what watch it is will be greatly appreciated. This is the only photo I was able to find of it.

How to set a Hamilton 902B Railway Special 21J

I bought this and it’s beautiful. I wound it and it ticks like magic. I try to pull out the crown to set it and I can’t. Can wind it just fine. Cannot set it.

This is my first nice pocket watch. Do I set it by pulling the crown? Or is there something else I’m supposed to do?

Picked this Waltham up from an estate sale today. How'd I do?

Definitely needs to be repaired but I felt like this was definitely something not to pass up on.

E. Howard & Co. Boston

Appears to be a series III movement from the 1860’s , but the case is maybe from the 1880’s?

Movement serial number: 10,355
Case serial number :1,253,149

If anyone recognizes the art or anything about it , I’m all ears. Just got this watch from family and would enjoy learning more about it.

XRF on Hamilton 992/992B GCW?

Has anyone settled the argument about the Gold Center Wheels on the 992/992B yet by using XRF? it's a non destructive technique that can see through to any base metal core, so it can rule out plating.

And it would be easy to test multiple without having to sacrifice a load of wheels, we'll be able to see if certain serial number or date ranges were actually solid 14k or plated 24k, or if they were all one or another

Omega pocket watch that belonged to by great grandfather

Can anyone help me identify it? Looked it up on some database and it says from the year 1900 if it helps. Also, is there a way to tell if it is a fake?

Anyone know more about this Phenix pocket watch?

Picked this up recently and haven’t been able to find much information on it. It has a Phenix-signed Swiss movement and a pretty unusual risqué dial.
I blurred the artwork just to keep the post reasonably SFW.
I’m curious about approximate age, the movement, and especially whether this type of dial would have been original to the watch or added later.
Anyone familiar with these old Phenix watches or seen another one like it?

Watch Info please

Picked this up recently for $150 and have been trying to figure out exactly what I have. I know enough about pocket watches to be dangerous, but definitely not enough to confidently date all the parts or tell what is original.
Movement is marked Hampden, Nathan Hale, Canton O., serial 3,616,355, 15 jewels. The case is marked 14K gold filled and Dueber.
The dial is what really caught my attention. It’s a gold-tone metal dial with engraved/embossed floral decoration, Arabic numerals, a separate seconds register, and the Hampden name worked into the design. It seems much more elaborate than the typical Hampden dials I’ve been able to find.
It also came with a pretty ornate chain/fob. There’s a maker’s mark on one part that looks like BIGNEY to me, although I’m not 100% certain I’m reading it correctly. I haven’t found much useful information on that either.
The watch is running, although I haven’t had it serviced or put it on a timegrapher yet.
Mostly curious if anyone here can help with:
Approximate production date / more information on the Nathan Hale movement
Whether this style of dial was factory Hampden, aftermarket, or something added by a jeweler
What this type of dial is actually called
Whether the case/dial/movement combination looks period-correct
Any information on the chain and the BIGNEY(?) mark?
Any information is appreciated. I’ve been going down the Hampden rabbit hole with this one and would love to hear from people who know these better than I do.

Today's project was casing an 18s 17j Waltham crescent st and 12s Elgin B W Raymond

I'm a sucker for the patterns on the 18s model 1883 crescent st movements. It's now in a 5 oz silver case. The Elgin 12s 19j is now in a gold filled case.
