Staying at NYC?

I just moved to the Upper East Side (Carnegie Hill). I’m a female physician currently completing a one-year fellowship. I’ve only been here for two weeks, and I’m already loving it. I’m originally from Puerto Rico.
My current salary is $115k a year, but if I stay in New York as an attending physician next year, I could earn somewhere between $250k and $400k annually. My partner, who worked in Puerto Rico, was making less than $25k a year with no benefits. Here, she already has a job paying $75k plus benefits, with the potential to earn $90–100k in the future.
I genuinely feel like we’re enjoying our life in the city. I love the academic environment I’m in, the opportunities for professional growth, and all the things there are to do here.
The only thing that truly keeps pulling at my heart is my mom back in Puerto Rico. I know she’s happy if I’m happy, and if I decide to stay here, I would make it a priority to visit her often.
I guess I’m just writing down my thoughts. For the longest time, I was convinced I would never leave Puerto Rico. Yet here I am, and life has taken me somewhere I never expected.

Well, I have to do it. Tomorrow I’m buying 1,500 shares. I’m hopeful 🙏 I’ve missed so many great opportunities
