Returning fan after about 12 or so years

Hey all! I was a fan from about 98 til around 2011. Mostly a casual fan since I was young. I remember growing up my favorite player was Lidström.

My mom’s ex-husband was from the Detroit area and he got me into hockey and the team. After they got divorced around 2011-12 I was no longer interested in hockey since most of my reasoning for following was him.

I slowly became more interested in hockey over the years and was unsure of who to follow. Around 2016 my old coworker recommended a new team joining the NHL and told me to check them out. I’ve been a Vegas Golden Knights fan ever since(I know I’m sorry).

Over the last year or so I’ve been considering starting to follow a second team in the eastern conference just so I can get to enjoy more hockey. I ended up deciding to start following the Red Wings again.

What are some of the things I should know about the current state of the team and maybe some recent history? Thanks in advance and I look forward to joining this community!
