UPDATE: The Detroit #RedWings today acquired forward Sutter Muzzatti from the Nashville Predators in exchange for future considerations. Additionally, the Red Wings have signed Muzzatti to a two-year, entry-level contract.
[Helene St James] Where do Red Wings stand in GM search? One inside source sheds light
Per HSJ's source:
"Chris challenged [everyone], let's go find the next leader that's going to bring a Stanley Cup to Detroit, from whatever level they're at in the organization that they're with right now," the source said. "Let's go find that person. And so we started with over 100 names. And we are making our way methodically through that in a manner where we're being strategic, trying to figure out how do we get the right person in the role?
"I'm not going to comment on specifics on where we're at and interview process or timeline because I don't want to paint a picture that, you know, we have a specific date. Yes, we'd like to have somebody in by training camp. But at the end of the day, what people should feel really confident in is that we're turning over every stone and going through a very thorough strategic process."
[Bultman] Good get by Ryan here. I don't know the specific interviewees, but I will say that some of the external names on my radar on this stage include Florida AGM Brett Peterson and San Jose AGM Jeff Kealty, and I continue to wonder about Carolina's Darren Yorke and Tyler Dellow as well
The Athletic: How everyone feels about its front office (poll)
I think its a gifted article but it doesnt seem to be working on my computer. Anyway, just posted an excerpt just in case.
2026 ranking: 30
2025 ranking: 23
A vacant GM chair makes the Red Wings difficult to rate at the moment, so consider this a final grade for the Yzerplan. And folks, it is rough.
There were many moments throughout the years where hope was high in Detroit thanks to Steve Yzerman, so let the Yzerplan serve as another lesson that tearing it down is the easy part. Actually building something is much more difficult. The public caught on to the struggles of Detroit’s front office quicker than the fan base did and it’s why it’s important to gauge how front offices are perceived from both inside and outside the base. But even within Detroit, the tide against Yzerman had already started turning last year.

>All 32 NHL teams will feature a new look this season – special edition uniforms that uniquely and authentically celebrate the fans, city, and local culture of each team.
>The NHL and Fanatics announced on Wednesday that the 2026-27 NHL season will introduce Hometown Remix, the first 32-team special edition uniform, apparel and headwear program designed and developed by Fanatics since becoming the League's authentic on-ice uniform outfitter in 2024.
I swear if it's another bullshit throwaway play on the "Motor City/Car Muffler/Tailpipes/Rah Rah Cars!" crap, I'll lose my mind. While I have little faith in Fanatics and the NHL to do anything interesting, creative, or in touch with the fans, I'll remain hopeful that this turns into something more than topically relevant about the city or state.
What do you all think this will look like for Detroit? Personally I'd love something musically oriented. There's such a huge musical history here with Motown, electronic music, hard rock, and hip hop over the years, there could be a neat musical play. I highly doubt that's it, but just thinking outside of the "we made cars" thing for a minute.

youtube.comWhich “big 5” retirement was the most emotional for y’all?
And when I say big five, I mean Stevie, Nick, Pavel, Henrik, and Kronner.
For me it’s a tossup between Henrik and Kronwall. Henrik just because of the way he went out, it’s clear he didn’t want to retire but his back forced him to. And Kronwall was my favorite player for a long time and just seeing him retire really hurt me.
