Where does Dylan Larkin rank amongst past red wings captains?
Since the talk of him being traded is going around I was curious what others thought.

I was surprised to learn that the last time Detroit hosted an NHL All-Star Game was 1980 at Joe Louis Arena. Since then, we’ve seen All-Star Games in markets all over the league, including several newer and non-traditional hockey cities, while Hockeytown has gone more than four decades without one.
At first, I assumed Joe Louis Arena being outdated was the reason, but Little Caesars Arena has now been open for nearly a decade. Detroit’s downtown has seen significant investment, the riverfront is thriving, the city successfully hosts major sporting events, and the Wings are finally trending back toward relevance.
I’ve heard theories ranging from the NHL wanting District Detroit to be more fully developed, to the league preferring to use All-Star Weekends to grow the game in newer markets rather than rewarding established hockey cities like Detroit. Others have suggested Detroit simply isn’t viewed as a tourism destination on the same level as cities like Vegas, Nashville, or Miami.
So what’s the real reason? Is Detroit genuinely being overlooked, or is there something behind the scenes that makes us a less attractive host city than fans realize?
Curious to hear everyone’s thoughts because, as a Wings fan, it feels like Hockeytown is long overdue. 🐙🏒🚨
The post I just made was where’d you rank Larkin so now I’m curious who you think is the best captain in history?
Got these from my FIL that recently moved out of state and don't really know what to do with them, my husband went with his parents to get them signed at an event in Detroit when he was a kid. Anyone know where I could list them for someone that collects things like this or how much they're even worth if anything? I can't find them anywhere online. I am expecting my 3rd baby and don't want them to get broken as I have no use for them or nowhere to really put them. They're unopened and going to assume they're special because his parents didn't drink them.
I know an offer was tendered but I haven't seen anything saying it was signed. I might have missed it but a quick search doesn't show much either.
I wouldn't be surprised to hear that he had an offer sheet tendered but hasn't decided on it yet, or is using it as leverage without actually signing it.
Either way, I really hope we don't lose him, particularly right as our d-core is finally dialed in.
Here is your franchise's cumulative record relative to .500 (equal wins and losses) throughout their entire history.
I will be making one such graph for each team. The complete album can be seen here.
OT losses are counted as losses.
Just the logo, not how I feel about the actual team
75th anny coke bottles. Is this anything?
Apologies in advance if this has already been asked / discussed. My question is what does a three team trade involving Larkin look like? I’m assuming it’s because Yzerman wants a legit roster player in return, and since Minnesota, Vegas, etc. don’t really have that available, a team like Minny adds a third team.
How do you see that shaking out? Normally third teams are added to help with salary retention, or picks, but I’m trying to picture how this could happen with a return that Detroit actually benefits from.
I feel like I’m going crazy because I KNOW this existed.
Years ago there was a local Dr. Rahmani eye/LASIK commercial with Pavel Datsyuk. He’s wearing a gray suit, and at the end he slowly looks up at the camera and says:
“Yeeeeeeessss.”
It became an inside joke in my family, but now I can’t find that clip anywhere.
The only YouTube upload I can find of the commercial cuts off before that moment. I’ve searched YouTube, Google, and Reddit without any luck.
Does anyone else remember this? Even better—does anyone have the full commercial or just the “Yeeeeeeessss” clip? I’ll take an old DVR recording, VHS rip, or potato-quality video at this point.
Please tell me I’m not experiencing the Mandela Effect. 😂
I’m curious what the Red Wings community thinks of the Dylan Larkin trade request versus the Sergei Fedorov offer sheet back in the 90s. I know Fedorov’s actions weren’t forgiven for a long time, especially with the Illitches and the organization. I’m curious where everyone thinks the Dylan Larkin ship abandonment (as captain at that) lies in comparison, in terms of turning their backs on the org. Is it as bad, worse, or not as bad?
Just saw this random Sheetz commercial with Larkin in it. Do you think this was filmed pre-trade request?
You can look at all 65 trades for the Wings here.
With the exception of the most recent trades where we don’t have an answer on yet, I was curious about how others feel he has done by looking at this list.
How do you feel he will fair in the Larkin trade? He’s said a lot, but I feel like it’s best to look at a track record and decide.
I live in west central Ohio. My first game i ever watched was game 1 of the 95 finals (rip). I was celebrating red wing cups before the jackets were even alive.
I have family in Birmingham, they live maybe a mile from where vladdys accident happened. My Uncle has been a dentist there for decades.
I was up at Crystal lake last week with him visiting and he drops the bomb that he is one of the teams dentists. He started last season. He and 2 partners split the home games and they're there on stand by just in case.
Guess who's invited to be one of his guests and sit in the same box as player families for a few games this season?
This guy... im so stoked.
Thanks for reading my random fact of the day.
