onn 4k 2026 Stick Audio tests
Been messing around with the new 2026 ONN 4K Google TV stick tonight and honestly… this little thing is kinda insane for the price if you use Kodi.
Setup:
- ONN 4K Google TV Stick
- Denon AVR-S970H
- Samsung S95F OLED
- Polk ES50 towers + ES30 center + sub
I also have it connected over Ethernet with a USB-C adapter and it pulls around 300-400 Mbps consistently.
Important part:
Kodi is the only app I could get proper HD audio passthrough working in.
I tested:
- Nuvio
- Wuplay
- Stremio
All of them were outputting DD+ only for me.
Kodi though? Completely different story.
Tested:
- Skyfall (DTS-HD MA)
- Apollo 13 (DTS:X)
- Top Gun Maverick (Dolby TrueHD / Atmos)
- Blade Runner 2049
- Dune
Denon front panel correctly showed:
- DTS-HD
- DTS:X
- Dolby TrueHD
- Atmos
Biggest surprise was playback stability. I streamed an 86GB remux with:
- no buffering
- no stuttering
- no audio drops
Honestly expected this thing to choke at some point but it just handled it.
For Kodi settings I basically:
- enabled passthrough
- enabled all HD codecs
- set channels to 7.1
- turned OFF “sync playback to display”
- used the recommended audio device instead of RAW
Did not expect a cheap Walmart stick to end up being one of the better Kodi/remux devices I’ve tried lately.
