Don’t understand my dog…

Got a sharpei from a puppy by a reputable breeder some years ago, she was part of the kennel club and everything , all shots etc. already had eye surgery before I got her etc.

She was a perfectly fine puppy, and I tried to give her the most normal average socialization. As a puppy she lived with multiple people in the house, another dog, I would bring her to occasional events, so even more strangers and ppl would pet her, etc. very positive interactions in her lifetime.

She has never been attacked, abused, or had a single negative experience with a human. This was all before she could walk instead of waddle.

When she got older and began to actually walk and stuff and make choices, she stopped allowing anybody except me to touch her. She spent her entire life with my mom dad, sister and brother, they all fed and held her as a baby and tried to put a leash on her etc.

She now runs away from everybody, she doesn’t allow anybody near her, not even the family she grew up with. She doesn’t bite or try to growl, she just silently runs away when they reach out to interact with her.

It’s stressful, at the vet she has health issues so they have to check her often, she cannot be there without me. We’ve tried and even tried muzzles, but either way she will poop and pee or attack if the vets try to touch or do anything to her.

I have to physically hold her and then she allows them to do what they got to do.

She’s not a bad dog, learned to potty train and everything like normal, doesn’t chew everything up, she’s already 4 years old now, and her only issue is just not liking humans at all. She is neutral towards dogs. Does not like them though.

Really she doesn’t like or enjoy anything except me and sometimes the other dog she grew up with.

It is kinda debilitating having a dog that can’t interact with anybody except yourself, does anyone have a similar experience?

I’m free.

I left in May and even though I quit, my body still gets sweats and neck tension just thinking about back to school. I’m on my way to recovery from that abusive relationship.

I can’t believe I can look forward to the next day now. No more performing, no more begging people to do work, no more observations, no more planning. No more planning. I’m free.

I cant believe I can finally be myself again!!

What to do in Jacksonville? -Atlantians

Me and my husband (mid 20’s, from Atlanta, GA) are doing a weekend vacation trip to Jacksonville, Florida before we transition to our new jobs.

He was born there but his mom left Florida to Georgia pretty soon after so we’ve never seen where he was born! It’ll be really meaningful.

He had a favorite rapper named XXXTentacion who is from there also, idk if that adds to anything.

We would love to know what we should check out and what beaches we can go to. We aren’t heavy drinkers or party people but we do like liveliness, music, beach, nerdy things like games and anime, jazz, unique niche little spots, crystals and rocks (his thing).

Let me know what we should hit, we will be coming this Saturday! 💗💗💗 (OH AND DANGEROUS PLACES TO STAY AWAY FROM)

Confused on which therapist career to pursue? -Ex-Teacher

I am doing research and getting a lot of conflicting answers, which is normal of course in any profession.

I am an ex-teacher of 3 years at the high school level, (I’m 28) I taught language arts and also ESOL which I enjoyed but hated because of the public school system. Forcing us to pass kids, students becoming less engaged and less curious, cellphone addiction. I liked teaching, I did not like the unpaid counseling I did because it was too much unpaid WORK!
After a season of depression and loss, I decided I’d like to become a therapist because I was suicidal from this job and my cognitive behavioral therapist changed my life and I was inspired to pursue that work. (mainly cuz teaching had lower pay too)

I am a bit confused on what would be the fastest and optimal path for me. When I think of me being a therapist, I do think of individual clients more and helping them through mental health struggles and changing their perspective. Keeping track of them and building long term intimate bonds reminds me of teaching. I’m not very interested in medicine.

I already have a bachelors in English language and literature and a masters in teaching ESOL, I don’t mind going to school again but I’d like to make it the shorter route…

I am also hoping I can get a job easily after school as that was my experience with teaching. I have so much debt!

The research is pushing me back and forth on what I should major in at school, be an LPC or all these other acronyms!! I don’t know if social work is up my alley because what it entails online is very vague. I guess it’s hard to conceptualize this work, it’s different from my field.
And I worry if I will be paid during practicum? Teaching degree did not pay our student teaching which was insane. I’m in Atlanta, Georgia.

What do you guys think would be the best fit for me?
