Low Block Next Season

Feel like i'm going to need to spend more time this upcoming season teaching the team how to beat the low block.

Anyone else picking up on any trends in the world cup that we should expect to see more of next season after coaches get more exposure to the strategies they are seeing watching the WC.

U12 Wandering as Free Agents

There are 4 very talented girls at my daughters age, all 4 belong to a club but don't actually play for any particular team instead they roam the area as free agents and just practice with personal trainers and randomly show up to practice with a team; and accept invites to fill in for tournaments. I'm curious how common this is.

Opinions on Playing Up

I know it's a little different right now with the age change so some kids may play up to stay with the team they have played with previously (which i giet). But in general, i think too many kids are playing up at least hear in so Cal, i'm seeing teams with 50% of the team that has kids playing up. Playing up should be reserved for exceptional talent like top 5% of talent, or in the instance of it's the only way a town can fill a team for 2 age groups. Players would be better served playing their age and in a stronger flight.

This came about as i watched an above average girl but not exceptional demanding to her parents that she must play up on the U13 and not on the U12.

What do you all think?

Pick One, WrestleMania Night 2 Main Even Challenger, Type of Match You want retired, Rule that you would eliminate.

Challenger: Logan Paul, i want a good heel run for a while.

Match to Retire, Any match where something is held above the ring and they climb a ladder to get it. Somehow ladders are like kryptonite to wrestlers sure they can jump from ring to top rope and land with ease but climbing one rung of a ladder at a time is an epic struggle. Scientists should study this phenomenon.

Rule to eliminate: 10 Second count out, or just extend it to anything over the fan barricade or in the walkout area.

Good Place to find Teammates for a 3 V 3 tournament?

My daughter is excited about doing a 3 V 3 tournament Captains Cup when she is visiting my wifes parents this summer. Problem is i don't know any soccer players or coaches in Wisconsin that she could get on a team. Is there a good website that helps match players also looking for teammates U10.

We did contact the director of the tournament, and they sent us a free agent form to fill out, but they will only reach out if anyone else fills out the free agent form and is in need.

Tournament Posting Scores and Winners

Am i the only one that gets annoyed when tournaments stop posting the scores after pool play, i like to know who wins, did i get knocked out by the tournament winner, is there another team in the area i need to be watching?

I get it you are all volunteers and thank you for that, and you all put in long days to make it happen so thank you. But I really appreciate it when you do.

Stop Villainizing Winning.

Too often, I see a false dichotomy being created between coaching for development and coaching to win. The reality is we should be do both. We should coach to win and develop to dominate. Winning should be the result of strong player development and there’s nothing wrong with that. Winning is not a bad word and it should be celebrated.

What we need to stop doing is confusing development with shortcuts. Coaches who rely only on bigger, faster players, better recruiting, and constant boot ball tactics, or systems that sacrifice long-term growth for short-term results are not “winning coaches” versus “development coaches.” They are "Shortcut Coaches"

Great coaching develops players technically, tactically, and physically while still competing to win. The best teams don’t choose between development and success. They achieve success because of their development. Shortcut coaches get short term gains and plateau, but please stop villainizing winning, winning is not the problem; Shortcut Coaching is the problem.

End of rant.

Rules Posting Rec lEague

Last week a coach was upset that the ref did not understand that they needed to call offside, when a team advances past the buildout line, prior to goalie kicking the ball or releasing it. First it's not offside but that is how their rec league defines a buildout infraction. When asked for the wording of the rule here is what was posted. Holy Cow! No wonder refs are terrible in this league. This is so poorly written.

-Offside is not called at this age. The build out rule will be applied as a teaching concept. The attacking team should fall behind the line when the goalie is in possession of the ball. Attacking players moving beyond this line will be called offside; please instruct players that this fixed line is for the attacking end only, and is replaced by a moving line in the older age groups.

Vince loved the money, but first and foremost the WWE was Vinces identity. He had a bond with the brand; what we are seeing now is exactly what happens when a founder whose personal identity is the brand leaves. TKO's focus is bottom line profit, Vince was a combination of passion for a great product that drives profit. An analogy would be a restaurant owned by a top chef, the chef will always have a passion for the quality of food, that a Finance guy will not share.

Out of these 3 which one (if you could only pick one) do you blame for the blue empire falling apart.

Gus Fring, Walter White or Jesse Pinkman?

Gus? Because he pitted Walter and Jesse against each other multiple times and even switched who he backed. Had he let them just cook together and not want to kill Jesse or Walt would it have worked.

Walt? Because he could not leave Jesse behind?

Jesse? Because he had 2 kill the two that shot the little kid, or because he mentally broke down and started behaving irrationally like throwing his money out like a paperboy?

Or one of these for some other reason?

I think it would make an entertaining book if someone took many of the topics on here and made a short book about it, each chapter is broken into 2 parts Coach point of view then the Parent. For example Playing time, you find 2 adults that agree to be interviewed about a situation. First you give the parents perspective as to why they think Johnny did not get enough playing time, then you get the coach to give his breakdown as to why Johnny Did not get enough playing time. Maybe it's just a bathroom reader.
