just got self scare spectra. she’s so pretty, but she did come with a ton of scratches on her hands, and they’re ALREADY YELLOWING out of the box 😭 i know the soft material on the newer dolls’ hands yellows quickly but i’ve never seen it this quickly before

hey ghouls i just recurled my core jane doll for the second time and i wanted to show her off bc she's so cute but i was also wondering if anyone has any tips on styling/curling kanekalon hair?
this is my second time working on this jane doll because over the course of two months after her first curl sesh her curls got so messy and she had so many flyaways i just had to start over. today is literally the next day and as you can see in the last three pictures, it's already getting messy again. i can't finger-coil or scrunch with wet hands like my saran girlies, it just exacerbates the problem!!!
for reference, i did jane's hair like i do all of my other girls--slick with argan oil conditioner (which doesn't streak and leaves their hair sooo soft) and water, boba straw-curl, boil, and then style/tease once the curlers are out. i usually keep finger-coiling and styling after the hair dries, but this makes jane's hair messier, so once it was dry i just left it alone.
any tips would be very appreciated. tldr i have a lot of trouble getting her kanekalon to curl evenly or stay in neat ringlets. she's still super cute though, def one of my fav g1 dolls overall. thanks!!

got this oasis lagoona as a graduation gift for myself. she will be in jail until i defend my thesis in front of a bunch of strangers and some of my scariest professors on friday. im honestly considering opening her at the afterparty. or skipping the afterparty to open her.

jane, cupid, and lorna are my childhood dolls (had to replace some missing accessories), all the rest are new. some were crazy restores, others were purchased in new or lightly used condition. wouldn’t be possible without this amazing community of collectors here on reddit.
a lot of folks like to talk about how “toxic” this sub is but i’ve never met another community on reddit so willing to help other collectors out, bully scalpers and resellers, and push mattel for better quality…

i feel like every time i order NIB online there’s some wonkiness, but i’ve never gotten one this noticeable before! my new core abbey has two completely different eye shapes :,) she’s cute tho, i decided to keep her because i like how far apart her eyes are. def gonna reroot and restyle though…..
(on top of environmental concerns, this is why i def prefer to buy second-hand, you just never know what you’re gonna get ..)
got this 'original ghouls' clawdeen with crazy hair, a squashed face, stains all over, and smelling like cigarettes off mercari. loved her face screening even though she was in rough shape.
spent yesterday restoring her! i washed her thoroughly until the smell and stains came out, fixed her hair and face, and painted the og details into her boots and choker. waiting for her (non-budget) og outfit to come in the mail so i can complete her <3
